Overview
About Me
I love the outdoors, meeting new people and learn how languages work (although I don't seem to have the patience to learn one). I like travelling and getting lost in cities, but when I'm not travelling the next best thing is to meet travellers in my hometown and listen to their stories and experiences. I have been aware of Couchsurfing for many years, but only as of recent I've been able to host people.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Because it's a grand way to meet people from all over the world, learn about them and their journey, appreciate new food dishes and have fun.
I started my couchsurfing experience as a host. I've met surprisingly hospitable people abroad and I would like others to enjoy the same experience in my city. I believe in paying it forward and hope that my guests, if they enjoy themselves, make sure that their own couchsurfers or future hosts have a pleasant couchsurfing experience as well.
Interests
All sorts, but worth mentioning is hiking. If you are in Norway for the nature and plan to go to any of the nearby (or far-away, for that matter) mountains, cabins or national parks, I might be interested in joining. I often visit Trollheimen, Sylan and Sunndalen at weekends, and I don't mind some company. In summers I often spend a handful of weeks exploring new mountains and hikes around Norway.
Teach, Learn, Share
I enjoy helping others learning Norwegian. I have been trying to study a language or two, but I lack the motivation. Still, I always greatly enjoy discussing mother tongues with guests, try to teach one another pronunciation and see what sounds we struggle with. I play a few musical instruments, but I don't have the skills nor the confidence to teach you anything. You're welcome to play, though! I'd love to "teach" you how to ski, although I'm a bit of an amateur myself, but you'll have to be lucky enough to have the right shoe size for my extra pair of skis …
What I Can Share with Hosts
Although I don't really expect much from guests of my own, I expect a lot more from myself as a guest. This is where the skill as a great cook would be ideal, but I'll be honest with you: I cannot promise you a great culinary experience in return of your hospitality. However, I'll most certainly try! Couchsurfing for me is so much more than just borrowing your settee, so I hope to be able to spent time with you, as my host, and be good company.
What I can share with guests:
If I am not busy: my home. I have a settee (this is couchsurfing, after all), but I would recommended spending the night on the bed in the guest room. You'll have access to a shower, washing machine, kitchen, living room, Internet – the usual. I'll do my best to provide home-cooked food. I would love to learn new dishes, so if you like to cook you're very welcome to do so. :)
If I am not able to share my home, I am still interested in meeting up, show you Trondheim, go hiking or attend to an event.
Please note that I do not live in the city centre. You'll be leaving Trondheim, heading for the countryside (but don't let that scare you). Travelling using public transport will take about 35–45 minutes. Going by car takes about 25 minutes. I will obviously help you find your way.
