About Me

CURRENT MISSION

develop a company that provides media for ngos. listen to, and understand others better. become less selfish and more involved in everything i do.

ABOUT ME

All I want is to have a good sense of the people, the places, and the events around me--and share, whatever feels relevant, through conversations, writing and film.

PHILOSOPHY

I want to do whatever I feel I should do--because it usually turns out to be the right thing to do--while keeping in mind how it can affect others. Also, I want my interactions to be honest. All of these are hard.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I love it when people start talking and new worlds open up.

Interests

In recent years Hungary's descent into autocracy has made me interested in the pillars that democracy is built on, and in the roles that people's attitudes and experiences play in shaping the political system that they have. And I'm interested in the modes of learning and teaching that may lead to better societies. Though I guess what I still enjoy the most is to be on the road, and go wherever it takes me... or, actually, it's more like the moments that make me stop.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies, there are too many, from Buster Keaton through John Ford westerns, through the hard-boiled American movies of the '40s and '50s where every second they throw at you the coolest lines you wish you could come up with once in your lifetime, and the hard-boiled American movies of the '60s-'70s where they don't speak at all, but act and have things happen to them, and you wish you had that blink of the eye which contains everything that needs to be told--and the sparkling, limitless movies of the French new wave of the '60s, and the sensitive intelligence of the supressed East European cinema of the communist era, through Tarkovsky who's as close to filming what living in its most immediate sense means as it gets, through the Japanese who went crazy in the past couple of decades and then got bored with it, to the pinnacle of film history, which in many ways is Tarantino. Books, Vonnegut through Yerofeyev to Marquez, at the moment. Music--basically all musicians who feel what they are doing, or at least make me feel it.
