About Me

Bios are always exceptionally awkward and mostly lies. That said, here's my version of the truth:

I recently moved to a smallish town named Worcester (about an hour out of Cape Town) where I am working in the local hospital as a doctor. It's a great job with many challenges (I do love a c ja llenge) but it also means that my time is very limited - so forgive me if responding takes a while and if I decline your request because I am on call.

The rest of my life is pretty ordinary. I try to better myself in any which way. I try to keep an open head.

I crossfit (very poorly though).

At night i dabble in poetry and art it's try of many forms. I'm not especially good at either but I figure that time is the best teacher.

I'm all about adventure - let's go do something new! Let's climb a mountain! Drive nowhere really slow!

I love traveling. Due to my job I'm a bit tied down but hopefully I'll have some opportunities soon. So now I try to bring the world to me.

If you plan a trip through Worcester, hit me up.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

New places, new experiences and new friends! Add the bonus of getting to know a whole culture and country by first-hand experience while connecting to people so different and perhaps even the same...why not?

Basically, it's paying it forward. Allowing others to see my country and all its beauty and seeing the world in return. It's genius!

Definitely not for a mere free bed ;)

Interests

So as previously mentioned, I have too many interests to list. The chief of these are basically travel, music, literature (especially poetry), language and exploration. It would be unfair to not mention medicine, since it is my daily frame of reference.

So nonsense, knowledge and philosophy are all worthy topics.

Music, Movies, and Books

Where to start!

I have no taste in music, seeing as I generally like it all. I do reserve a special place for classical, folksy, bluesy and traditional sounds though.

Movies include any movie that actually has a point beyond making a profit - so saying something or feeling something is pretty important.

Books are my literal Achilles heel... If the print isn't too small and it's in a language that I can at least name, I will read it. Anything from fiction to history interests me. I do love my classics though.

For anything more specific, Facebook will know. Feel free to look me up for a list of conversation starters.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In 2012 I spent 10 days surviving in the Lowveld, living off nature's bounty. Quite an experience, though not one that I would recommend for the faint-hearted or the constantly hungry!

Teach, Learn, Share

I want to learn as much as possible - whatever I can get around to! I would love to get to learn the language of every place that I visit. Perhaps even learn to cook a traditional dish ;) Tell me all about your life, your history and your culture!

If there's a question, do ask! If I know it, I'll share it, whether it's something of little value or slightly more serious. I can teach you Afrikaans or English or Northern Sotho (the little I know) or even the value of a good South African braai.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Pretty much as above... I can share everything that I've experienced so far, a drink or two, all about South Africa and anything that might interest you.

Countries I’ve Visited

Angola, Belgium, Bolivia, Brazil, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Peru, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey, Vatican City State
