About Me

==== CAN'T HOST FROM DECEMBER 23 TO JANUARY 23 ====

I am a man of simple tastes. By simple tastes I mean: eating well, sleeping well and, of course, travelling well!
I enjoy good music (preferably played on a turntable) with friends and good readings just by myself. Can't stand dishonesty and disrespect, I believe everyone was born to shine and no one should be prevented from reaching it!

"Digo: o real não está na saída nem na chegada: ele se dispõe para a gente é no meio da travessia" - João Guimarães Rosa

"I say: real isn't in departure or in arrival: it displays itself for us in the middle of crossing" - Crappy translation of João Guimarães Rosa =)

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I'm a DJ and a saxophonist in my free time, so I guess that already says a lot, though I have my preferences. I like black music in general (soul, funk, afrobeat and other african genres,reggae, jazz) but I also love the music from my country and I'm always researching new sounds worldwide.
If I had to choose the 5 musicians that most inspire me, I would have to say Fela Kuti (Nigeria), Bob Marley (Jamaica), Gilberto Gil (Brazil), Tim Maia (Brazil) and John Coltrane (USA).

-----

Movies: I guess everyone should watch "Waking Life", directed by Richard Linklater. So deep!

-----

Books: I read a lot, sometimes just for pleasure and some other times for study (and I found out this can be quite pleasant too!). In the first category, one of the books that most strucked me recently was "Terra Sonâmbula", by the mozambican author Mia Couto (all the books I've read from him are just brilliant"; in the second category I would say Guy Debord's "Society of the Spectacle" is one must-read book for everyone trying to understand our crazy society

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've jumped from the highest bungee jump in the world, in South Africa! It certainly was the crazyiest thing I've ever made, after all, throwing yourself from a 216m high bridge is not the kind of stuff people with a bit of sense do...!
