About Me

Hey there!

My name's Andrea, I'm 22 years old and just graduated in Computer Science. I grew up in the countryside near Venice, and then moved to Trento, a fairly small city in the north of Italy located in the middle of mountains, to study in University. As soon as I got there, COVID appeared on the scene and basically made it really tough to interact with people and live as a student.

That's the main reason why, after my graduation, I decided to take a gap year to take a look around me a little bit! Every time I travelled in my life, I wasn't really into sightseeing, churches and museums, but instead I found it more satisfying to get on the street, meet people at the bar, speak as many languages as I could and experience random local stuff I would never see on organized trips and similar!
As a matter of fact, one of my biggest passions is languages: not only learning them (still a beginner I guess), but also understanding them, as if they were some kind of weird puzzle, study their differences and explore their shades; in the end, language shapes the way we see reality, and I'm incredibly fascinated by this.

My other passions are hiking (I grew up near close to the mountains, my mum says I started hiking before starting to walk), coding, playing the guitar (on a "campfire guitarist" level) and cooking (so cliché, I know).

I'm currently working as AuPair in Klosterneuburg, near Vienna, for six months, and since I happen to be pretty free on the weekends I'm looking forward to organising some trips in Europe! After these six months, I'll probably start workawaying for the following six, but hey, I'm open to suggestions :)

Cheers!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

What brings me here is my great interest in different cultures and my deep passion for foreign languages.
I love to meet people from all over the world and experience lifestyles far from my comfort zone, it's just so helpful to grow as a person.

I consider myself pretty open-minded and adaptable, also on a practical way: I think I've slept in nearly every possible accommodation different from a bed, like sofas, the floor, yoga mattresses, carpets and the beach. On my way to add more to the list, so if you happen to have an amaca I'd LOVE to try it :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I guess driving from Tirana to Saranda passing by eastern Albania, with its roads and its mountains and the rain and 6 more people in a twenty-years-old car was pretty cool

Teach, Learn, Share

I’d love to share cultural insights from Italy, teach some recipes and speak some of the languages I know to make conversation and improve them!

Also, I just graduated in Computer Science, so I might be helpful in anything related to computers. And yes, I can fix your wifi. And printer.
