About Me

A tree-hugging food enthusiast who's passionate about using every tool we have to improve what we do and how we do it.

Currently on a mission to alleviate homelessness.
Step 1: build a Tiny House on Wheels so I can be mobile and travel to where my efforts are most helpful. (Project info: http://www.andreajburns.com/tiny-house-project/ )

My current residence is furniture-bare as I prepare to move into a Tiny House, so I (unfortunately) don't have a couch to offer anyone else.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've been couchsurfing for a long time. As a swing dancer, we travel a lot for dance events, couchsurfing with each other.

I'm learning to slow down a bit and spend more time in a city I'm visiting, so I need an additional couch to surf before and after dance events. I've found that locals are the best people to stay with when visiting a city (hotels are so impersonal) and I always prefer neighborhoods to bustling tourist spots (even in the Philippines).

Interests

Coffee, photography, music, dance, art, conversation, writing, good wine, better food, keeping it simple, traveling light, paying attention, connecting, and compassion.

Music, Movies, and Books

These lists are way too long to type. Every genre has something amazing in it (yes, even polka). Music that rises to the top: funk, soul, blues, jazz, oldies/swing, latin, and reggae. Movies that are worth a second (or 50th) watch: Monty Python's Quest for the Holy Grail, Romancing the Stone, Reservoir Dogs, Pan's Labyrinth, Fern Gully, Amelie, and To Wong Foo.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I called it "EpicTrip." Two months, four countries, all couchsurfing: New Zealand, Australia, Philippines, and Thailand. (Wanna read about it? http://www.cheshire-grin.com/epictrip/ )

Teach, Learn, Share

I've been around for a while and love learning, so I've got lots to share! Cooking, dancing, designing (graphic or construction), health, etc.

Countries I’ve Visited

Australia, Mexico, New Zealand, Philippines, Thailand
