my name is Andrea. I am backpacking around the world and I really don't know what's my destination and where I will stay tomorrow. However, I know where I would love to go with my heart! There. Over there: meeting new friends, other cultures, experiencing different way of life.

On this path of life we go toward our destiny, sometimes bitter. Perhaps we might break this chain! In particular I like spirituality and sociology, looking for a life as far as possible by money and consumerism, but of course I don’t regret the human progress, scientific findings and a well-balanced comfy life.

The info below about Napoli are just indicative of my previous couchsurfing experience with my mom, and I wanted to keep it.

I'm settled in Aversa (around 20 minutes to the center of Napoli by train), and I share my home with my beautiful mom :) I will come back to Italy after my long trip around the world, so I will be able to host you from 23th of December 2017.

I travel. Traveling is curiosity, funny. I come from a beautiful land which let me think about my origin, and melancholy is strong. However it's a strong desire to see and understand things. So I travel. I travel because I do love it; because it has always been my dream.

In the world there are many different types of travelers: video-makers, digital nomad, vacationers, backpackers, adventurist, refugees, visitors, documentary, excursionists, one-day trippers, and so on. All of them are welcome in our home. However, there is a type of traveller that we do love in particular, and they are the "migrants". Migrants are the most powerless trippers in the world, because, often they travel for economic and social needs. Unfortunately, Italians are becoming intolerant to receive people: our hearts are greys and, the politic, which is the mirror of ourselves, it is developed around walls, scared, wars.
We love to host people not just because it's wonderful to meet new friends, but, above all, because this is our "resistance", wishing a earth without passport/borders, with transparent home walls, as so as, families of air.

I did it so in Stuttgart when I was for the first time in German: “Hello sweety, I’ll have a coffee, please” I said to the bartender. Suddenly a woman back of me was screaming so fast in German language, and I thought smiling to myself: “So funny German people, I love this country!” But I didn’ realise she was talking to me. At some point she starts talking in English towards my place, and I turn my head back looking for somebody near by, and she: “No, no, you, right you, because you bla bla, you bla bla…”. My chin was on the floor like in the cartoons.

* 🥊 I’ve been boxing for several years.

* 🙀 I love animals but I don’t like pets in my flat.
Well, a friend of mine is an animal activist: manifestations, posts in social media, events. All about animals awareness. Can you believe her cat looks like a great blowfish? Moreover she has to give it insulin because this cat is diabetic.
Now, put the case instead that this cat keeps feet, normal. Can you ask it if the cat is happy? I mean, are you able to ask it if this cat is delighted about living with her?
You know, there is a man that I do love in particular, he is Saint Francis. He was able to talk with animals, like a precious gift of God. Believe me, I’d like it too! Just utopian, I know, but I can imagine a discussion with a male cat:

“Hello cat, how you doing?”.

“Doing f’ing bad, mate. Today my boss took me to the hospital and a f’ing man detached my balls! Can you believe it?”.

“Gosh. Anyway, they say that it is good for your health”.

“Come on mate! Don’t say bull s’it! Moreover this flat is terrible!”.

“All right, calm down. I got you, however, you live in a comfy and clean house, and the castration is a way to prevent you run away”.

“I can’t run away. You know, I was born and raised here, so I can’t manage myself outside, in particular with a bunch of gangsters, like cat-Capone and cat-Gambino: they’ll kill me in one go.
Believe me mate, my life is a s’it, it is a prison. The only satisfaction is just when I piss all around here”.

After leaving my permanent job at University, in 2014, I decided to follow my dream and left for 6-year long trip during which I got to know 30 different countries in Latin America and Europe.

I didn't have much money or a clear idea on where to start my new life as a traveller. So I decided to take part in a volunteer project in Buenos Aires. My family thought I had turned crazy: leaving a good job and safe life to work for free in a suburban neighbourhood of the Argentinian capital. Does it make sense? Well, according to common sense of course not; but a dream must not remain just an imagination. Obviously, I had a bunch of difficulties and I always had to struggle a lot to go on along my way. I worked as a cook, a waiter, in a warehouse, a call centre, etc. But it was worth it! When I think of the friends I have met during my journey, and the many more yet to come in my life, I am absolutely delighted.

Traveling I have seen new places and different cultures that fascinated me, but above all I had the opportunity to get to know myself better: my fragilities, my fears, my desires. Traveling was therefore a tool of personal improvement. The key was the people, their smiles, because the other is the mirror where I can see myself: by knowing you I know myself.
However, during my travels, I observed with my own eyes the negative impact of mass tourism on the environment and the population. The journey, in this case, becomes an item like an object: I buy, I consume, and I throw away. This creates a vicious circle where money is at the centre of human relationships, and the tourist is received merely for profit. Moreover, the hosts feel alienated by the transformation of their land, adapted to consumerism, with a strong environmental impact.
