About Me

Hi everyone! I'm Andrea, a 26 year old guy from Rome who eats exclusively pizza and pasta (with a good glass of Italian wine on the side!). Of course I'm just joking, let's cut to the chase and get serious for a minute or two. I'll try to keep things as normal as possible ;)
I've just turned 26 in January and I'm still studying to get my law degree in Rome which I hope to finish for by the end of the year. You surely must be thinking "how is it even possible that he's still studying at that age?!" I know you're totally right, but in Italy we do things in an extremely relaxed way, maybe too much sometimes! I've been living in Rome my whole life but I did have the chance to do an Erasmus exchange in Madrid where I was living for the past year or so. I met so many lovely people there and made friends from all corners of the globe. The warmth that the city and its people gave to me will be something I'll never forget. This amazing experience made me realise how important it is to test yourself, gain new experience that can make us grow as a person and connect with people from different walks of life. So I guess you could say travelling is one of my main passions and whenever I can, I love jumping on a plane and exploring the world without even giving it a second thought!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have to be honest, up until last year when I started travelling and visiting new places, I had always used the conventional ways of finding accommodation: "do I rent a flat on Airbnb or do I go to sleep in a nice hotel I've seen on Booking.com?". Due to the amazing experiences in the past year, I've finally opened my eyes! Thanks to some Spanish friends of mine, I had the chance to visit a lot of beautiful places in Spain and in the best way you could imagine: knowing the true side of a city, not through your Lonely Planet guide books, but experiencing with them the "real" things that local people do. Even if at the beginning I was so dubious and a bit scared to go to sleep at a friend-of-a-friend's home, I'll never get the chance to thank them enough for giving me this important life lesson: let go all of your fears, don't overthink and jump on the next train. It could be one of the most beautiful and intensive experiences in your life. Discovering the city with your new local friends is the best thing ever!

Music, Movies, and Books

I wouldn't say I'm an expert on music but listen to all kinds of genres. I don't go out dancing loads, but love it when I do. Just give me a bottle of vodka and I can dance to all sorts of music for you, let's party!

Reading is another hobby I have. Summer is my favourite time of the year when I can kick back, relax and catch up with all the books I've been wanting to read throughout the year.
So let's go somewhere by the sea and give me a great book, I'm yours!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One amazing thing I've done... What kind of question is that? I've always been doing amazing things in my life hahahaha😂, but if I had to tell you only one, I'd say the first thing that springs to mind, is to suggest moving to another city, even another country if you have the chance. Go and experiment with things you've never done in your life. I've done this and it has changed me for the better.

Teach, Learn, Share

Anyone is interested in learning a bit of Italian? No one? ... ...Anyone interested in learning a bit of Italian? No one? Mmm well what else can I teach you. Without meaning to bring out the Italian stereotype even more, I could happily show how to make some really tasty dishes to impress your boyfriend or girlfriend. Just don't share our secret methods, it's one of the few things we're actually good at ;)
