About Me

Hey everyone! I'm Andrea and I can't wait to get to know you. I can tell you lots of things about me but I am one of those people who thinks that chatting is always better sharing a couple of beers. Of course you don't wanna host a complete stranger so here I go! I am easy-going , talkative and curious about different cultures, languages and kinds of music. Since you are hosting people at your place , I guess you like to meet new people, so do I, this is why I'm staying at your place ( OK you got me , it's also coz it's cheaper). What do I wanna do in my life? Let's save some mystery for later ;)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Well, the truth is that I need a place to stay some days until I find a flat to live in Essen. I'm gonna study and work at the Duisburg-Essen Universität as Spanish teacher assistant and I'm going to Essen some days ahead of time to find a flat. Last time when I moved to Dublin, it didn't take more than three days and Dublin was a busier city so I guess that it won't take me more than three days this time. But it's not only coz is the cheapest option, I also would love to meet new and interesting people from the very first moment, and also who can give me some directions to get to the location, coz my sense of direction is non-existent.

Interests

I'll try to explain it briefly coz I don't wanna bore you. I love languages, that's why I'm studying them, I think they are a very important way to get to know different people and their cultures. The more languages you speak, the broader is your pespective abt the world. Related to this, I also love travelling, but not just an express-tour in a foreign country, I like to live abroad, it's the only way to get to know the essence of a nation. I did it before in Ireland two years ago and now Germany is my next step. But hey, don't think I'm a freak, I also like the normal stuff; going out, reading, music, movies, chatting...

Music, Movies, and Books

When I was younger I used to be very keen on rock, I still love it but now I'm more into indie-country music, above all, australian singer-songwriters .Have you heard abt John Butler ( for example, "ocean" he plays a 12-string guitar, amazing!!) or Vance Joy ( "riptide") or Kim Churchill ( "loving home)? But my favourite song is ( in this stage of my life) " the fear" by the Englishman Ben Howard .
I'm running out of space so I'd better sum up. Movies: Dead Poets Society, , Schindler's List, Life is Beautiful, 500 days of Summer, Pan's Labyrinth... Series: How I met your mother, Friends, Breaking Bad, Sons of Anarchy...Books:Harry Potter ( the books of my childhood), The Kingkiller Chronicle, His Dark Materials, The Outlander...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Ok here goes one of my stories. Two years ago, when I was living in Dublin I went to the beach with a friend of mine to enjoy the landscape. We sat down in some high rocks and started to talk but we failed to notice that the tide started to rise and suddenly there was no way out. I had no battery in my cellphone and my friend hadn't his and, to top it all, it was getting dark. Our only option was to clim sharp and slippery rocks , I almost lose my teeth. After 45 min approx jumping, getting wet and breaking through vegetation, we found a train station, we were saved...if it wasn't for the 2-meter-high wall which was separating us from the station !! So we got to climb it with the help of some loose rocks, but then we had to jump and there were nothing but the same sharp rocks waiting for us on the other side.Did we do it? Well here I am now, isn't it?

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you some Spanish and English, although if you are German I don't think you need any help with English, all the German people I've met are much better than Spaniards at English. But I can try.
I'd love to learn from you more German and useful stuff abt living in Essen.
We can share funny stories, interesting details abt our cultures, cooking recipes, beer mugs...
