About Me
Hi! I am a brazilian girl who has lived for two years in New York, as an au pair. And it was awesome! It was the first time I left Brazil and trusted my guts to live in another person's house, taking care of their kids.
I love working with kids but boy! I respect much more parents right now hahahah You've got to have guts to be a parent.
Anyway, I am a pretty bubbly person, I talk a whoooooole lot, I have a sweet tooth, I love pets, sometimes I am pretty random (haha). I am good with languages, I have a passion for French although I haven't had the opportunity to develop my french (I will work on that pretty soon tho).
I grew up very passionate about theater, and even after I got my degree in Drama, I decided to go on another career and I became an English teacher (total accident! I used to hate English as a kid!). After graduating for the second time, I worked a little but people only take your English skills seriously if you have an abroad experience (I totally understand why, but c'mon! 80% of my English I've acquired while in Brazil! That should be taken into account). So I decided to become an au pair. and that's how I finally discovered traveling is really fun, and going solo is freeing.
One of my plans is offering my own couch when I am back in São Paulo, so I can welcome people with our brazilian hospitality. :D
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
After traveling a bit, I realized I like talking to locals and getting tips from them instead of going to the hype places that are mostly crowded and with not my kind of people.
I like traveling solo but sometimes it can be really trick only listening to your thoughts. It makes me feel a little bit like home when I have someone I've met and spend an afternoon having coffee and forgetting the hour. This is as amazing as going to a landmark. It gives you a piece of the life from that place.
Also, I gotta say I suck making friends at hostels. Like, really. Although I am a chatterbox, I get totally shy and feel awkward talking to anybody besides 'Good morning, Nice shoes!, Where are the showers?'. I usually try, but it is highly more probable I will make friends at some bagel store line than at a hostel. THAT'S WHY I am on couchsurfing. To make friends that are in the same vibe I am without the awkwardess of hostel chitchat.
PS: Don't get me wrong, I truly like hostels, and I am staying over several hostels during my next trip. Maybe this hostel-fright let go of me!

Music, Movies, and Books
When it comes to music, I am terrible remembering name of bands, songs, albums. Unless I get obssessed with something. Then, it will be on a loop for some time on Spotify.
Does Broadway soundtracks count? Then Thoroughly Modern Millie, Grease, In the Heights, Hamilton, Dear Evan Hansen, Something Rotten, Amelie, Little Women, How to succeed in business without really trying ,Matilda.
Bands? Pentatonix, Andy Grammer, Superfruit, The Gardiner Sisters, Shortstraw, Ed Sheeran, George Ezra, AJR, I love rockabilly and 80's songs. Brazilian rhythms like forró and carioca funk. See? I am pretty random. It just means I wrote what's on my recent played on Spotify.
Series? OUTLANDER. Anything released on BBC hahahah Sherlock, Emma, Pride and Prejudice, Downton Abbey, Sense and sensibility, I binge watch most of series like Doctor Who, 3%, Stranger Things, Bob's burgers, Gravity Falls.
Books? I am a YA lover and children literature is adorable. As a teacher for kids, I appreciate being an insider and knowing what they are talking about.
