About Me

Hi, my name is Andrea, and I am from Catalonia. I consider myself an open-minded, tolerant, and very versatile person. Therefore, it’s easy for me to adapt to different people and situations.

I studied Social Education, and I’ve been working in the field for 12 years, mainly with young people in underprivileged neighborhoods (like the one I currently live in). However, I recently felt the need for a change. Since I am naturally curious and eager to expand my knowledge in other fields, I decided to challenge myself by changing careers. I am now learning computer programming (I am currently part of a team developing an app for schools), and I am also studying math. Quite a change, isn’t it?

Additionally, I am deeply connected to my neighborhood. I am organized and I actively participate in activism every week, fighting for social rights on a local scale—always with a global perspective, because everything is interconnected and has an impact.

Other important things about me: I don’t usually travel just for leisure. I am used to traveling to visit friend and family or for social projects, but from time to time, I try to scape to the mountains, especially to the Pyrenees (the high mountains in Catalonia) to take a deep breath of fresh air and observe at the stars—I love astronomy! I also enjoy photography and illustration.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

When I was a teenager, I visited some cities through Couchsurfing. I was looking for a different way to travel and to connect with places and local people. It was a really great experience! I met some really interesting people. Some time later, I decided to give back the help I received while traveling by becoming a host myself in the shared flat with my roommates, and that was really fun too.

Nowadays, I live in a small flat with no space, and like in many places, the housing problem is hitting really hard in Spain, especially in towns near Barcelona. So unfortunately, I don’t have the possibility of offering my home as a host right now.
