About Me

Teacher during the year and traveler during the summer. I love being about the explore new places and meet new people. I take the opportunity whenever I can- making having summers off a big motivator for teaching. I like being outdoors in nature, learning about others through converstaion, good beers, and meeting new people. I have been fortunate enough to host and be hosted by some amazing people over the years and i am hoping that it continues.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love to travel, meet new people and learn about new places. I think the best way to get to know a place is to talk to the people that live there and it is always great to a locals perspective on a place. I spent all of last year traveling with my boyfriend and we were fortunate enough to have some great hosts. We also try and open up our house whenver we can as well. I think that couchsurfing is a great way to really get to see a country through a locals eyes and get off the tourist track.

Interests

Anything outdoors! I go running, biking, and hiking. I like kayaking and stand=up paddle board on occasion as well. I really like drinking good beer and am fortunate enough to live in Austin where there are lots of great breweries. I enjoy going to the movies, but I do not have a lot of opinions on movies that I love and hate. I like going to see shows and hear live music as well. Traveling is by far my passion. Mike is really into the same but he is much faster than me at everything I listed. he is also really into disk golf and woodworking.

Music, Movies, and Books

I try to listen to a lot of different music. I like folk, rock, world music and to be honest I am not really sure how to classify the different types of music I listen to. Movies really depends on my mood but I cannot watch scary movies since I tend to freak myself out later when I start to think about them. I really enjoy reading historical fiction and memoirs about other cultures. I also will read some terrible chick lit when I am on the beach.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I feel pretty fortunate to have had lots of amazing experiences in my life so it is really hard to pick just one. As a teacher I have taken full advantage of having my summers off to see the world. Taking the plunge to quit my job and go away for the year with no plans was risky and exciting (it worked out, i had a better job to come home to so all in all a good leap of faith)

What I Can Share with Hosts

My love of life, open mindedness and willingness to try new things. Oh, and I guess I would be pretty good to practice English with as well. I would be open to cooking a meal, but really you would probably prefer me to buy you a beer since my culinary skills are not the best
