About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Find balance.

ABOUT ME

I grew up in Newfoundland, Canada, which anyone that has ever been here will agree is one of the friendliest places in the world! So I learned from a young age that we're all really just a big family and we should help each other out whenever we possibly can. And I think that's a big part of what couch surfing is about, getting to understand what hospitality means to people around the world. As for what I do, I just graduated from civil engineering in British Columbia. And after being away from Newfoundland for about 7 years I was inevitably drawn back here, as all Newfies are at some point. I've done a fair bit of traveling and I'm not even close to done, but for the moment I've got a really great job which I love, so I'm going to try out a semi-stable life for a bit and see how that suits me. :)I really love to travel, play sports, workout, have fun and be outside. Animals (especially cats) are one of my favourite things in the world, I try to make an equal number of animal and human friends everwhere I go. I also love to laugh, because there's really nothing better is there?

PHILOSOPHY

Don't stress. Esecially about money. And live in the moment.Because, it all works out in the end.I'm a Christian. But don't worry, I'm a cool Christian :pA great quote that I try to remember in everything is:"And this too shall pass"It's good to remember during the bad and the good times. It's not good to get too attached to things or experiences because then it can blind you from seeing all the good that comes from change. Life is about balance, there will always be ups and downs, but we need the downs to appreciate the ups.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I often use CS to find information about places that I'm going, you guys are such a wealth of knowledge about the places you've been, lived, visited, read about. So I like to soak that up as necessary, and especially to find out about events and get togethers in places that I will be!

Unfortunately I'm not all that great at planning my trips in advance so I often have a hard time finding places to couch surf, maybe that's something that I should work on, because I would love to have more opportunities for that.

As for right now, I'm returning all the couchsurfing favours and hosting whenever I can while I'm actually in one place for a while!

Interests

Sports are a big passion, I love basketball in particular, but there are not too many sports I would complain about. In general I just love to be active, working out is pretty much the bomb, nothing beats that rush.I also love to travel, obviously. And my other great loves in life include food, animals, and people!

Music, Movies, and Books

I really like to read, especially fantasy type stuff. Lewis and Tolkien are some of my favourites, but I wll read pretty much anything.I don't really watch TV, but I die for a good youtube video (if you know of any funny ones please don't be shy to send me the link, if it makes me laugh I will love you for it)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Swimming with wild seal pups in New Zealand would have to be right up there!

Teach, Learn, Share

I love to learn about new cultures. But mostly, I would like to learn interesting facts that may potentially come up sometime during a pub quiz, or if I ever made it on Jeopardy. Then I could impress my friends with the knowledge you've passed on to me. And that's what really counts right? Impressing your friends.I will share my facts with you as well. For instance, did you know that all Polar Bears are left handed?

Countries I’ve Visited

Australia, Austria, Costa Rica, Croatia, Czech Republic, Fiji, France, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Morocco, Spain, United Kingdom, United States
