About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Heading to Europe!

ABOUT ME

I grew up in Conifer, Colorado near the Rocky Mountains where I spent a lot of time hiking and camping. Currently I am living and going to school in Denver. I am pursuing a bachelors degree in English/writing with a minor in ethnic studies. When I find free time I spend it riding my bicycle, going to concerts, writing and visiting my family.

PHILOSOPHY

I try to learn something from every experience, that being said one of my favorite philosophy's comes from nichiren buddhism: "True knowledge is learning something new everyday, true wisdom is letting something go everyday."

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I haven't yet, but I am always willing to help out if you are in town. Depending on the night I can meet up, show you around or give you a couch to crash on.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I am new to couchsurfing so I haven't yet been able to participate. I am setting up this profile because I am traveling to Europe in July of this year with my friend Gracie.

Interests

Poetry and literature (reading, discussing, participating, circulating), writing, music, hiking, biking, gardening, community. I am willing to throw myself into any project that aims to cultivate human connection and understanding, I believe traveling and meeting new people is an integral part of this. I believe that by strengthening the communities that we live in we are engaging in a bottom up approach to reshaping world politics.

Music, Movies, and Books

Favorite Movies- the parking lot movie, Waking Life, Science of Sleep
Favorite Books- Sacre blue by Christopher Moore, Cannery Row by John Steinbeck and Cider House Rules by John Irving+so many more that it would be silly to list here
Poets- Kim Addonizio, Terrence Hayes, Octavio Paz
Music-Anything, especially if it's live! The last good concert that I saw was Emily Wells and Dark Dark Dark at Denver's HIghdive.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Something amazing that I saw last summer was the ruins at Chitzen Itza, outside of Cancun Mexico. Two years ago I traveled through Utah and was enthralled by the red sandy ribbons that wrap the walls of the beautiful zion canyon and last fall I explored the coastal forests of Olympia Washington. While standing amongst the relentless life that carpeted the ground and held up the sky I felt utmost satisfaction at being small, there and alive.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you the basics of knitting and crocheting in one night, I can teach you how to cook vegetarian and vegan dishes, I also have a knack for living economically-- we can find some great stuff to do without spending a dime!
