About Me

CURRENT MISSION

ABOUT ME

I'm a curious and friendly human..
I work as an English teacher in Colombia and as I'm not an English native speaker I love to meet new people, practice and learn from every interaction.
...If you're interested, I'd love to invite you to some of my classes...My students would love to meet you! :)

I moved to Medellín 9 years ago, but now I live in Santa Elena (40 minutes by bus from Medellin), where La Feria de Flores takes places every year! It’s a beautiful town with a lot of nature.

I consider myself a laid back person. I enjoy simple things such as going for a walk, having a dessert with black coffee or just listening to soft music (usually instrumentals)

I enjoy sharing with people who can see the positive side of things and an opportunity in every experience, not judging it as good or bad. I don’t see this as toxic positivism, rather “positive objectivity” since I don’t see any point in living this beautiful life choosing the role of a victim. Pleasant and unpleasant things happen to all of us, but when we remember everything changes, our expectations to live only the pleasant experiences disappear and we accept that contrasts also help us see.

I have developed an appreciation for meditation 🧘‍♀️ since I’ve seen and felt how it really operates in different levels of my life.

I also like drawing and painting when I feel inspired.

One of my favorite quotes is "Everything could have been anything else and it would have had just as much meaning." by Tennessee Williams.

I love animals so I decided to stop eating meat... I'm not vegan yet...

PHILOSOPHY

Happiness is not a condition, it's a decision.

Music, Movies, and Books

-Movies: Independent films, drama (I really like crying with movies), animated (they never disappoint)...
-Music: Generally soft music, movie scores/instrumentals or new music I can discover or friends share with me. I’ve been into “medicine music” lately.
I love all Studio Ghibli soundtracks. One of my dreams is to attend any of Joe Hisaishi’s concerts, one of my favorite composers and directors.
-Books: combining journalism, political analysis or science, and lately spiritual insights. Also, books recommended by friends who know me well.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've...
-seen my dog giving birth to her 7 lovely puppies.
-seen 4 falling stars in Isla del Sol, Bolivia.
-been to a Vipasaana meditation course (best decision ever).
-been a teacher for more than 10 years now.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach some Spanish if you're interested. I'd like to learn many expressions in your native language and share expressions in Spanish as well. Exchange experiences, thoughts, abilities, recipes, etc.

What I Can Share with Hosts

As a guest I can offer my respect and willingness to follow your rules. I can share my native language, some recipes I know, and coffee from Colombia! :D
I am also a tidy, clean and helpful guest.
