About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To become a fun, well-traveled, intelligent, and interesting person.
ABOUT ME
I'm a really easy-going fellow who loves to travel in the dirtbag style (read: cheap).
Currently, I'm working on a doctor of pharmacy degree at UT Austin, so most of my time is taken up by that. But I'm still looking to have some adventures.
PHILOSOPHY
Learn, learn some more, then keep on learning.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Currently just hosting here in Austin, but I hope to start surfing a bit this summer!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I'm just now starting to host some good folks at my place in Austin, and I'm loving it. I'm still waiting be on the other end of things as a guest.
Interests
I love traveling to beautiful places, especially national parks, and meeting people along the way. Hiking and backpacking are two things that I've loved for a while, but rock climbing is steadily becoming an intense passion of mine. I have been musician for most of my life (drums are my weapon of choice), and I love to play and listen to many different kinds of music. I also love to read non-fiction books.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: There's so much good music out there! Radiohead comes to mind immediately as my favorite band, but I also love The Beatles, LCD Soundsystem, Led Zeppelin, Dirty Projectors, Animal Collective, Grizzly Bear, Bruce Springsteen, Angel Olsen, and so many others. Music is sort of my thing.
Movies: Star Wars! Although recently, Her has become my new favorite movie (I love to talk about it, so please ask me about it!). All the Steve McQueen films, most of Quentin Tarantino's flicks, Paris Texas, and I love documentaries.
Books: I really enjoy Richard Dawkins' books, and I'm slowly sinking my teeth into Steven Pinker's work. I also love Christopher Hitchens, Sam Harris, and Bill Bryson. I like non-fiction stuff - science books in particular. On the fiction side, I'm going through John Green's stuff right now (I just finished The Fault In Our Stars).
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Hiking a section of the John Muir Trail from Mammoth Lakes into Yosemite before spending 3 weeks in Yosemite Valley will always be a special memory for me. It was my first time traveling alone, and I learned a ton about myself. Another memory that sticks out is a 3-week road trip that I took with my two roommates in the summer of 2010. I fell in love with two things on that trip: open roads and the West.
Teach, Learn, Share
Nice! I like this. As far as things I could teach others, I think if you want to learn to play some basic drum beats, I could help ya out with that. Also, if any hosts want to jam a bit during my stay, I'd love that! If you want to learn anything about backpacking, I'd be happy to tell you all about it or even lead a trip for you! Also I'm very knowledgeable about the national park system, and I'd love to give you some tips on the best places to go and the best hikes to do.
