About Me
Hey, my name is Andreas but everyone calls me Andy. I'm an Engineer from Scotland and I love the experiences that travel offer. I'm a bit of a 'box-ticker' so always push to try new things. My father's from Switzerland and my mother's Scottish (so I don't really have your typical Scottish accent!).
After university I traveled the world for a couple years (not going to list them all) and it was absolutely some of the best times of my life, so now I am in full time employment I'm always keen to get away and keep visiting new places!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I've couchsurfed before with other people but never had an 'official' account so thought I'd make one to try out the full experience. I am extremely easy going and honestly up for doing anything, which I reckon is what the average host is looking for. If you're happy to let me stay with you then I'm all for hanging out with you, letting you show me around or going on some adventure somewhere. On the other hand i'm perfectly capable of looking after myself so if you're busy I'll figure it out by myself and we can catch up whenever.
I want to couchsurf to get a real local/personal insight into a place I'm visiting and I reckon I might even be able to convince you to do something new too!
Interests
I like all the usual stuff good movies, music (mainly dance music but it's all good) blah blah blah
but also yeh going on adventures is a good way to sum it up, I can be pretty active when I travel as I like to cram a lot into my days. I like being cultural and learning about a place and museums and exhibitions and all that normal tourist stuff.
But on the other hand I love a good party and can drink plenty, if we were so inclined... haha
Like to try and go for a good run everyplace I visit as well but like doing anything to keep fit: cycle, climb, hike etc...

Music, Movies, and Books
As I mentioned, love all dance music and have done a fair bit of DJing in my time. Although will regularly go with my friends to see bands etc.
I have a subsrciption to our national cinema so I go and see almost every film that comes out so fair to say I'm just a big fan of cinema in general (although I tend to find romance and horror a little boring).
Don't really read books, more of a video game guy I'm afraid!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Ughhhh always a tricky question without sounding like a bit of an arrogant traveller "look at me I've been here and I did this" sort of thing! haha
So yeh I'm sure I'd have time to fill you in with my history!
Teach, Learn, Share
Maybe if you have any engineering questions I could pretend I know what I'm talking about! Otherwise I'm generally quite good at thinking outside of the box.
I just think there's a lot to be gained from speaking to people from different backgrounds as then I actually feel like the conversation is beneficial instead of some of the normal day-to-day stuff most people chat about at home.
What I Can Share with Hosts
If you're looking for someone to show around and be a tourist with I'm happy, if you're busy and want me to look after myself I'm happy, a bit of both I'm happy, nice restaurants I'm happy, backstreet eatery I'm happy, underground rave I'm happy, gig in a pub I'm happy. So yeh just whatever basically :)
