About Me

Hey Folks,
meet the Stenzel brothers :)
We are Patrick and Andreas, two Brothers form Germany who spontaneously decided to visit iceland during christmas time. We've been to iceland with our parents 25 years ago and ever since talked about returning to this magical country.

Patrick is an artist, puppeteer for dundu.eu and an extreme sports and outdoor enthuisiast.
Andreas is an ex aeronautical engineer but currently back to university to become a teacher at kindergarden, while still taking time off to visit the mountains.

Andreas used to travel asia and had lot of fun with couchsurfing, so he want's to show his older brother this way of traveling. We are both easy going, open minded and spontaneous. For this journey we want to immerse in iceland's culture, experience the lifestyle and get to know locals while enjoying iceland's stunning nature and maybe have a small outdoors adventure.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Andreas:
I left my lovely country to visit the world, meet interesting people, try new sports, to see and learn about other cultures, food and to have time to reflect about my life. In my opinion, the best way to truly immerse into the culture of a country ist to mingle with the locals. CS offers exactly this oppertunity and so far didn't dissapoint me at all :)

Patrick:
I'm used to traveling in my camper bus and meeting people on the road, my brother proposed to try couchsurfing for our our iceland trip and I'm curious for the experience.

Interests

All though we don't look alike at all, we share a pretty wide variety of interests:
We are both into sports, especially outdoor sports like biking, hiking, rock climbing - the view you get after scaling a steep mountain wall is just amazing!

It might be because our mother was a cook that we both enjoy cooking a lot and are always looking for new food experiences and the chance to share our skills.

We both enjoy working with our hands and to learn new skills from different crafts. We build stuff, renovate and refurbish and ar both quite handy around the house.

We differ in our taste of music though, vastly to be quite honest :D

Music, Movies, and Books

Andreas:
I'm generally open to most kinds of music and I actively look for new stuff but I allways come back to rock music. Visiting rock festivals, head banging, pogo dancing and enjoying a great time with my friends.

Until last year I would have said every Tarantino movie, buuuut I didn't like the latest ones that much so I'll add in a true classic: Clockwork orange. I still love Terry Pratchet's novels allthough they beginn to fade, so maybe it's time to revisit them?

Patrick:
I enjoy Jazz, electronic music and rap - I kinda don't like rock music but I'll endure it from time to time to party with my little brother.

Iron Sky (man this movie was bat shit crazy), Arrival and Attraction (2017), Catch me if you can

Tuareg from Alberto Vázquez-Figueroa

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Andreas:
I hitchhiked and couchsurfed all the way from Jakarta (capitol of Indonesia) to Denpasar (Bali), took me two weeks for the distance of only 1200km but was worth every second. Allthough I didn't speak the language very well, people where super open and we shared a lot of great moments.

Patrick:
While hiking in the german alps I met a woman who ended up giving me a crazy job offer: she asked me to arrange an event for the anniversery of the company she worked at. I did all the decoration and artwork, organized food and drinks for 250 people and was responsible for the service staff. Took a lot of time and effort but the event played out smootthly and everyone had a great time - I'm a tad bit proud ;)

Teach, Learn, Share

We both had the luck to experience a lot in our life and we'r never short of great stories. Beside that we would love to try local food specialties maybe you're even willing to exchange secret recipes with us? In any case, enjoying a great meal with a new friend is always amazing ;)

We'd love to visit hidden places off the beaten tracks, so in case you know any, let us know.
