About Me

CURRENT MISSION
quitting our day jobs and travel round the world

ABOUT US
Lara and I are a two young doctors working in Basel, Switzerland. We're really happy to be with each other because we we have been saving for the same dream: Travelling the world (or once round it) with no time constraints.
We meet in Basel while working and have been a couple ever since. We love meeting new people and enjoy slow pace travel. I, for my part, spent one year in Spain during my Erasmus and then the 6th year of studies working as an intern in Argentina and Mexiko. Since then I've been working as a surgical resident in Basel.

PHILOSOPHY
The reason why we're here on couchsurfing and one of the reasons why I became a doctor is: I like working with people and them showing me new ideas, thoughts and new ways; there is so much to learn and so many nice people to meet, we want to part of this :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One thing was to scale a private mountain owned by a friend's family in Chile. We made a bit more than 2000 m in one and a half day, and being totally exhausted another friend of mine didn't watch his step and abruptly slided towards the edge. I threw myself onto his arm, getting hold of his hand. A very steep spot where we had been walking, he would have fallen almost all the way we had climbed till then. Afterwards, we set a large rock rolling towards the spot where my friend would have fallen and we didn't hear it hit the ground. The moment we then reached the top was so life-affirming, I'll never forget it.

A second moment was my Paris neighbours almost calling the police. I spent a summer in Paris, writing, looking for savoir vivre, things 18 year olds do so they can later on tell of it and feel sophisticated :) I hadn't ever seen my neighbours since I was barely at home. One day I received message from the medical university in Vienna that I was confirmed student for the next semester. Overwhelmed by surprise and joy I jumped through the apartment and started chanting. Funny thing that they did not call the police rather than asking me if anything bad had happened, considering their slightly distressed faces.
