Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To do what I love and do it often.
ABOUT ME
I'm a social person and enjoy meeting people, seeing new places and experiencing different cultures. I also read a lot, more than anyone else I know (novels at least). I am socially inept with references to tv shows, and only watch tv if I've downloaded a season that I've heard is good. I'm interested in differing thoughts, ideas, and solutions to the issues faced globally or locally and enjoy seeing a different perspective to any given problem.
PHILOSOPHY
"What man is a man (or woman) who doesn't make the world a better place"... I want to enjoy life, help others do the same. When I die, I don't want my main accomplishment to be that I made money. It may be cliche, but there's more to life.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I travel, and stay with hosts whenever I can - I have hosted a few people and had a blast, but Thunder Bay is not the hotspot it once was. Open to hosting around my schedule... may not be able to give the city tour.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have couchsurfed all over Europe and met several amazing people that I definitely would not have met otherwise! I am generally available to host, but between school and co-ops, it is sometimes hard to arrange.
Interests
I love learning and try to absorb as much as I can. This summer I began violin lessons and joined a night class for spanish. I'm not good (or close) at either, but I'm better than I was before. I love the outdoors but find my life is too rushed to really enjoy them. I love art though I fail to make my own and enjoy seeing someone's perspective translated onto paper, dance etc. I enjoy a variety of music and listen everyday while commuting to work. I like raves, music festivals and the find similarities in the people who attend them.

Music, Movies, and Books
I love/hate George R. Martin, who in my opinion is the greatest and most unpredictable author of his time along with Stieg Larsson.
I also like Wilbur Smith, Bryce Courtney, Kyle Mills, Bernard Cornwell, Jasper Fforde, Jane Austen, Charolette Bronte and Jeffery Archer.
I like the following tv shows and movies: Inception, Source Code, In time, 7 pounds, Invictus, Milk, Running Scared, Green Street Hooligans, 50-50, The invention of lying, How I met your mother, The Game of Thrones, Big Bang Theory & Sherlock among others.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I think the reason I travel is because I have yet to experience an "awestruck" moment. I've been white water rafting, and loved it, and I've seen a lot of the natural landscapes in the world and enjoyed it.
The closes thing I have to "awestruck" is being astounded while going to a cafe in Canmore, Alberta. The cafe is called communitea, and the waitresses started by writing on miniature whiteboards which are erased each time to save on paper. Everything about the place had been carefully considered with the environment in mind, but still managed to serve excellent food and drinks as well. The other great thing was that this caring culture wasn't perpetuated by the management, but was evident in the employees who served there. It may seem kind of stupid, but for myself it was the first time that I'd seen a local business could be environmentally conscientious and still be economically successful.
I've been helped by strangers for no reasons, who could have easily stole from me, hurt me or otherwise adversely affected me and am amazed each time when they did the opposite. If I loose my phone, it shows up in the lost and found, if I leave my truck unlocked, nothing's missing. I realize that this belief is perhaps setting me up for a fall, but I have faith in the goodness of humanity and seek to see that belief reinforced....
Just recently travelling in Denmark I met an awesome guy named Andre, and we met because he came to ask me if I could watch his stuff for a minute while he went to buy a coffee... he returned the favor 10 minutes later, and even though I knew that I could loose all of my stuff by trusting a total stranger, it was worth it because I gained a good friend..
