I love travel (obviously), but I don't get to do it as much as I'd like. Hence, academia. I enjoy the arts and nature. I spend my free time doing creative activities and/or being outside. I am a spiritual person; you might call me a progressive Catholic. I am an aspiring clinical bioethicist. I hold a Master's degree in Theology and a Bachelor's in English Literature. I love to talk about ideas, especially over a nice meal and a tasty glass of wine.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am traveling to Spain this summer to practice my Spanish. I have duties to my school in Madrid, so I need to be near the city. I'd like to get to know the culture and practice my Spanish with kind and interesting people.

Basically, I can get into anything but sports and dude TV. I also get bored fishing; I'd rather bird watch or sleep.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love music, especially odd arty stuff. I listen to a lot of indie pop/rock and classic folk rock. I'd probably say Radiohead is my favorite band.

I love soulful and intelligent arty movies, especially French new wave cinema, but I can enjoy a good blockbuster now and then.

I am from the Delta, so I love William Faulkner. I enjoy all kinds of books, though.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I climbed Mt. Elbert in Colorado. I could not have done it alone. I am not the athletic type, and I was really not in shape at the time. It was incredibly hard, and I learned a lot about myself. Let's just say it was humbling in a healthy way. My hiking group was amazing and supportive, so I made it to the top.
