Overview
About Me
Born in Romania, moved to Georgia when I was 4. Degree in Biology, with a minor in Anthropology. Worked in Alaska for 2 years as a fishery biologist, led a youth trail crew in North Cascades N.P. And Manning Provincial Park. Hiked the PCT in 2015 and 16' as well as other trails around Washington California and Oregon. Currently living on Maui and working for West Maui Mountains Watershed. Worked for a bit at Haleakala NP as well. My goal is to continue working on the land to improve management and conservation efforts in Hawaii. Looking to learn as much as possible about Hawaiian culture, plants, animals, fish, and insects.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Well sometimes you need a patch of grass to pitch a tent and a friend to share some laughs! Always looking to keep a fresh perspective and fellow travelers seem to appreciate that.

Music, Movies, and Books
Currently I'm in an audiobook phase. Herman Hesse is probably one of my favorite authors but I've been enjoying Shantaram by Gregory Roberts lately. I enjoy reading classics like Hesse, Kazantzakis, Edward Abbey, Leopold, and Muir. Audio lectures from Alan Watts, Osho, Krishnamurti, Chogyam Trungpa, and D.T. Suzuki keep me inspired in the morning. Don't have as much time as I once did to watch movies but I still try and check out the best movies of the year. Really enjoy documentaries about things that I would like to do the future.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Lots of Crazy Travel and Hiking:
Pacific Crest Trail 15' from Mexico to Canada 2,650miles.
10 day Vipassana Silent Meditation three times.
Worked on many fishing boats in AK (over 11 ports) as biologist.
Climbed Mt. Whitney twice
Hiked Lowest to Highest Route (over 130 miles through Death Valley, Panamint Valley, and Owens Valley to end on Whitney via Mountaineers Route)
Wonderland Trail Washington (98mi)
Teach, Learn, Share
Yoga, meditation, trail work, thru-hiking, bike touring, cooking, service, openness. Hawaiian flora and fauna. We can figure something out together.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can cook, clean, help out around the house. I'm a good hiking partner or pretty much any outdoor sports. Love to share my knowledge about local flora and fauna and tell stories. I'm also a good listener.
