CURRENT MISSION

Hi! We are Emily and André, two resident doctors (Emily in OB-GYN and André in family/addiction med) who love many things outside of medicine including meeting/sharing with fun new people while rock climbing, cooking, hiking, biking, and practicing French/Spanish :)

ABOUT ME

We are currently living in Minneapolis, MN, wrapping up residency training.
André mostly grew up in Denver, Colorado, but I also spent 8 years living in Mauritania, Senegal, Cambodia, and Burkina Faso. Emily grew up in Syracuse, NY, but has also lived in NYC, Boston, and Western Massachusetts.
We love good company and are often inspired by people. We are active people and enjoy outdoor sports (especially rock climbing), but we also love reading, watching movies and cooking. We both play the drums and enjoy all kinds of music (funk, folk, hip-hop, it’s all good!).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We surf and host when we can. We have hosted visiting medical students from out of town in the past and we have surfed in Colorado together (Andre has experience surfing in a few other countries as well). We are always delighted to offer a home-cooked meal to hosts or guests, and usually try to do something active and fun when we meet someone new :)

Interests

Our favorite thing to do is probably sport/lead climbing.

We like to cook and share meals.

Andre plays the drum set and likes to jam with other musicians (Emily likes to drum, too, and also to sing!).

We enjoy talking with people about whatever they might be curious or passionate about. We can share our unique perspectives, for example what we’ve learned about medicine, but our interests are very broad and we appreciate meeting people from all walks of life :)

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: everything! For example, Lake Street Dive, Lettuce, T Swift, Zac Brown Band, James Brown, Michael Jackson, etc...

Books: we LOVE to read, especially novels and memoirs.

Movies: Emily prefers movies that are not violent, but she will make an exception for Quentin Tarantino...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

We backpacked the Choquequirao trail near Cuzco, Peru! It was super steep and exhausting, but well worth the effort :) We saw beautiful ancient ruins, not to mention amazing mountains and and frequent rainbows!

Teach, Learn, Share

Andre would be delighted to teach anyone who wants to learn how to play the drums. It's a passion he likes to share with others :) We are happy to cook a meal any time and we love animals (especially Emily) so we can happily offer our hosts a dog walk or cat snuggles if it’s applicable ;)
