Overview
About Me
I'm a software engineer that is discovering his love for travel a little late in life. The things I like are varied, from video games and science to cooking and motorsports. I consider myself to be very friendly, and I'm always very interested in learning new things from every person I meet!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm currently planning a month long trip to Japan. One of my motivations for the trip is not only to visit as a tourist, but to actually try to feel Japan for what it is. I believe staying in a Japanese home will go a long way towards that. It's very different to stay at a hotel, where you are always isolated and you don't really experience a lot of things.
I've been really interested in Japanese culture for at least 10 years now, even made plans to get a master's degree there but couldn't do it due to different circumstances. However throughout all this time that feeling always stayed, and now I want to visit Japan to, among other things, try to figure out if eventually moving there permanently would be an option for me.

Music, Movies, and Books
The music I listen to the most is Metal, and many of its subgenres. But I also like ballads in spanish and english, electronic, some pop, electropop, a little jazz, and rock.
The movie I like most is probably Inglourious Basterds, I can watch it over and over again. Fast and the Furious is kind of a running joke between me and a very close friend, but it's probably the movie I've watched more times. Even though I really like anime I haven't seen that many anime movies, but really liked Kimi no Na wa and Koe no Katachi.
Lately I've been doing some varied reading, for example Ender's Game, The Witcher series, Dune, Homo Deus and The Drunkard's Walk.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I'm good at math? I'm was a gold medalist in the Costa Rica Math Olympics. I've done some "extreme activities", such as bungee jumping, paragliding and canopy.
In the future I'll be able to put my one month trip to Japan here!
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm willing to share whatever I can, from cooking some Costa Rican food (at least the ones I can cook) to my insights and opinions on different topics.
I'm willing to learn pretty much anything on any topic!
What I Can Share with Hosts
My time and a good conversation. I'm pretty diligent and if help is needed I'll collaborate. I like to be respectful and respect the boundaries expected in any situation and culture.
