About Me

Hello, my name is Andres, my nickname is "Andy" though, i am 24 and a student studying abroad in Madrid, Spain for the year, but originally i'm from San Diego, California. I'm studying Kinesiology and Physical Therapy back in California and am currently taking different courses in Spanish in Madrid . I haven't been to many countries in Europe yet but hopefully will get to visit some more countries soon. I am really enjoying my time here especially the international feel that Madrid and Europe have, that you cant find easily in California. I am a very outgoing person who enjoys making new friends and sharing some laughs. I am new to couch surfing but i have heard great things about the community. I hope to get to know you soon.
Andy

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm couch surfing because i feel it is a better way to get to know a city and its people rather than just staying at hostels or air b&b's. Through couch surfing you can meet people with your similar interests, hobbies and activities and hopefully do some of them together while visiting. Coming into someones else's home gives you the chance to make a personal connection with them and the city and opens you up to the hidden things you might not find on a tourist map.

Interests

I enjoy many things but my main hobbies would have to be playing soccer/futbol, surfing, mountain biking and hiking/camping. I love nature, the outdoors and also pretty much any sport or physical activity. I have done hiking in Yosemite, Calivaras Big Trees, Big Sur and a lot of Butte National Park in Northern California to name a few. I also really enjoy watching movies and playing music on my guitar and piano, though i am not the most skilled at either.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music- pretty much all genres, but some bands i'm listening to currently are Young the Giant, Run the Jewels, Jake Bugg and Alabama Shakes.
Movies- big fan of science fiction, sports, historical and comedy movies. Some of my favorites are ,Pan's Labyrinth, Inglorious Bastards and Into the Wild.
Books- i don't really get the chance to read like i would like but some of my favorite books are the Giver and the Sherlock Holmes series.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Well first off studying abroad has been extremely fun, but something unique i have done was work for an African Safari Zoo as a horticulturalist and got to work around animals from Africa like Giraffes, Rhinos, Lions, Gazelle, Zebras and Water Buffalo to name a few.
I also surf at least 4 days a week back in California, not very amazing, but i feel like its one of the best things i get to do in life.

Teach, Learn, Share

Can teach various things like Spanish, Guitar, Surfing.
I am willing to learn anything new or interesting, also common phrases in different languages really interests me.

What I Can Share with Hosts

My sense of humor and friendship, but also show the respect and courteousness that the host deserves when staying at their home, that being said I am a very sociable person and enjoy company.. Hopefully we can share some food, laughs and good stories.
