About Me

History student who knows a little about a lot - used to write for Brazilian magazines, and now focusing on studying, writing at home, volunteering and teaching. I am fascinated by all kinds of art, people, places and every aspect of the universe I can learn about. I am and I believe in changes, and will be as happy talking a lot as with peaceful silence. I want to meet and help everyone I can, discover new things and learn to appreciate the ones I already know from a different perspective. I have a lot of patience and will be in harmony to the people and context around me, always trying to be a better person than yesterday.

I currently work at the Central Archive of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul State, where I also study, and offer free history classes to anyone who doesn't have enough money to pay for that. I take acting classes and absolutely love theatre, but unfortunately keep trying to learn how to sing and dance and failing miserably. I'll work on that.

I'm still learning how to enjoy life. If a problem comes up, I just take a deep breath, accept it and start thinking of the best way to overcome that situation. I love to hear anyone talking about whatever they love, and will compensate any lack of experience by being as open to what the world has to offer as I can. In short, I'm very passionate about many subjects and always open to hear and talk about anything new, and though I would never force a conversation or push someone else's boundaries, being adaptable doesn't mean forgetting to be genuine and honest, it's just a matter of respect and interest for where I am and who I am with.

I'm Life on Mars dreaming of the day I'll become Space Oddity.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I think people are a big, important part of what travelling means. I will host whenever possible, and the only reason why I haven't done that before is because I haven't recieved any requests while having the structure to open space for someone else. I'm currently trying to talk to more people here, even if not with requests in mind, and maybe even find someone to join me in my next experience.

Music, Movies, and Books

I really love rock, jazz and blues, but will enjoy any musical style - all the rhythms and all artistic expressions will teach me something in an unique way. If I had to be specific, I'd probably start with Nina Simone, David Bowie and Marc Bolan.

Kubrick is the director that had the biggest impact on my life, but I find myself watching romantic comedies more often than I should admit if trying to look cool, for no particular reason other than they're fun and easy to watch without thinking.

Harry Potter was the first book I've ever read, when I was only three years old and learned to read by myself, so it is a meaningful part of my life. I study and work with Sherlock Holmes and Shakespeare, but will appreciate pretty much everything between Marc Bloch and Douglas Adams. Seeing Hamlet on stage for the first time truly changed my life, and my only tattoo so far reads ''for in that sleep of death, what dreams may come''.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I lived. Met my childhood idols, wrote about things I really like to a really cool magazine, took care of the two kids I love most in the world (my brother and my sister) and saved their lives in two separate events, danced in the rain, leaned to enjoy my own company as much as I enjoy being with everyone else, found out I really love History and how much I love to teach, traveled to beautiful places with peace... Well, you have to experience this stuff yourself.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach especially portuguese and history, but I'll be happy to share all my knowledge about anything you're interested in.
If I am allowed to put it in a Doctor Who sentence, here it is: I am an idiot. [...] Passing through. Helping out. Learning.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Stories about everything I have lived, seen, heard, felt. Anything you'd like to hear about Brazil and whatever else I mentioned here. I will, of course, respect any rules and boundaries, but also try to say thank you by helping to clean, for example. I'll talk to you, even skype, as many times as you'd like to assure you I'm not just saying on my profile, and will verify my profile if you are more comfortable that way - just haven't yet because my budget hasn't allowed me to. I'm up to almost any plan while travelling, and probably will only say no if I don't have enough money.
If you are hosting, you're free to either request something I can bring from Brazil or allow me to surprise you.
