About Me

A Business and Economics Graduate, working in marketing at a British University - I don't find myself with too much free time out of work, but I do find myself with a lot of accumulated holidays by the end of the year, which usually means a month long travel trip - the last of which was a month hopping across China.

I have the travel bug! Shortly after graduating (or indeed whilst procrastinating when I should have been revising) I decided I'd take a year out to go backpacking. What began as a 6 month trip to South America and South East Asia, turned into a 3 year stint abroad with time spent living and working in New Zealand and Sydney, Australia working in events marketing for non-profits.

I love meeting new people in the destinations I visit and taking part/attending their community events - its a fantastic way to get to know the people, culture and often try the local cuisine!

I'm gay - token disclaimer - and similarly have met a lot of fun people through getting involved in local LGBT events, working as a Volunteer Manager at Sydney Mardi Gras, whilst in Australia.

If you want to know anything more - feel free to send me a message, or have a stalk on facebook, twitter or linkedin! Hope to meet some of you all soon!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love to travel and meet new people, especially the insight they can give to a new place - the local insider knowledge. It sounds like a great way to throw yourself into a destination and make some new friends.

I am a couchsurfing virgin - so I have no references I'm afraid - someone break me in!

Music, Movies, and Books

Music - I like chart, pop, dance music. If I can sing along and dance to it down the street I'll be all over it.

Favourite books include: the His Dark Materials Trilogy; the Lord of the Rings; Brave New World; The Hitch-hikers Guide to the Galaxy (very British); The Devil Wears Prada...

Most recently read book: Look Who's Back by Timur Vermes.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Whilst traveling I've done a lot of awesome things and seen a lot of amazing places - hiking up glaciers in New Zealand, white water rafting in Australia, tubing in Laos, completing the Inca Trail in Peru.

The most amazing thing, that I'm most proud of, is throwing myself into Australia - knowing no one, with no job - and making some of the best friends I have and working for some great companies making a real difference for a number of charities. And it gave me the time to have some awesome experiences whilst in Australia.
