About Me
I am new to this community, but I have been in the business of travel and hospitality for most of my life. I do my best to leave the people I come into contact with in a better state than upon first meeting. In this context it means going out of my way to make people feel welcome in my home, or providing entertaining company as a guest. I graduated from UVM in May 2015 and recently started working in a rotational corporate training program that has me traveling around the country every couple of months. I am a calm, respectful, and open minded individual who just wants to share some laughs with new friends :)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
My roommate introduced me to couchsurfing by hosting two awesome travelers just passing through our area. After a hilarious night of creating amazing memories, I can say I'm hooked. I want to keep helping people with beautiful personalities get where they need to be.
Interests
I am a tech wiz that closely follows emerging trends and disruptive technology. Just starting out in amateur photography and excited to learn more. Love hiking, camping, water sports when it's warm out, and skiing, tubing, snowmobiling, when its cold. Not a big drinker, but I enjoy working on my bar tending skills for friends.
Music, Movies, and Books
Favorite book of all time: Brave New World
Movies:
Genres I enjoy: Action, Comedies, Thrillers, with the occasional horror.
Specifically, my favorite movies of all time are Interstellar and Brother Bear. As I travel around the country for work I can't help but play this song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NDtBnTMpltM
Shows: Silicon Valley, Mr. Robot, Suits, Sherlock, Supernatural, Teen Wolf, Being Human, House of Cards, Person of Interest, Hannibal, The Whispers, Modern Family, Full Metal Alchemist, and BoJack Horseman (the show is shockingly well written).
Music: My taste is always changing. Started off classic rock only. In college it transitioned to indie/alternative. And after living with a DJ as a roommate for the past year, I'm now into some EDM and creating my own mash-ups.
Some artists I enjoy frequently: Elton John, Steely Dan, Pink Floyd, Bon Iver, Coldplay, Imagine Dragons, Passion Pit, Madeon (he is a musical genius), Swedish House Mafia, and Deadmau5.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Volunteered for Habitat for Humanity and ReefTeach in Hawaii for a month. Ended up building a house that to this day I still think was being used to hide criminal activities. Saw a shocking side of the islands that most tourists never see. Hiked active volcanoes and kayaked along stunning beaches. The entire time finding a way to feed my group of thirteen people on 14 dollars a day.
What I Can Share with Hosts
A evening of stimulating conversation and immense gratitude for letting me stay in their home. Will be more than happy to troubleshoot any problematic electronics.
