Overview
About Me
I'm a teacher working in First Nations' communities in the Yukon Territory. I love what I do but also like to get away and travel when I can. I like backpacking trips (in the wilderness), camping and anything outdoors. I am an avid hiker and enjoy all sorts of sports. I am an enthusiast photographer and enjoy trying to capture those special moments with people, events, and landscapes (as frustrating as it can be).
I enjoy meeting new people and learning about them.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I just learned about couchsurfing this year; otherwise, I would have been on sooner. When I travel, I like to see the tourist attractions but am far more interested in what the locals do for fun and excitement. I feel that couchsurfing will allow me to meet extraordianry people, and visit all the local attractions as well as see the hidden gems that I would otherwise miss.

Music, Movies, and Books
Books:
Off the top of my head: I really enjoy the Dune series by Frank Herbert; the Black Company series by Glenn Cook; any philospohical works (starting into eastern philosophy); and comics.
Movies:
Lots of genres. I like locally developed material, independents, short films as well as the blockbusters.
Music
Pretty much anything!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I lived in the Western Arctic of Canada for 4 years. The village was called Old Crow and is the traditional territory of the Vuntut Gwich'in who are a self-governing First Nation. I had an incredible time there and built some good connections with people and learned so much about the Gwich'in people.
Teach, Learn, Share
I love learning about other cultures: art, music, food, events, celebrations, and language.
I can give you some perspective on arctic life and the First Nations' people who make up some much of it.
I can share fun stories and adventures.
Maybe we can do photo diary/essay!
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can share a smile, a thought, some good conversation and perspective as a traveller encountering a new culture.
I'll happily share my experiences of working in First Nations' communities in the Yukon Territory as well as the few (but soon to be more) adventures I have taken.
I may be able to do a little photography with you too!
