Über mich

Current Mission:
To enable people to become the best version of themselves. I'm redesigning my career to combining adventure travel, outdoor activities and self development facilitation.

I was born in Perth, Australia; have lived in England when I was young and have been back in Australia since High School.
I'm an easy going, happy person who loves to stay active by playing sports or just being outdoors. I love exploring nature and have learnt from my past traveling that I don't like big cities as much as I like wide open spaces, mountains, hills, water or forest.
I'm not a big party person, I'm far more likely to want to sit down (or even better, go for a walk or run!) and exchange ideas and thoughts on topics. New points of view, ways of doing things or activities are what excite me, not the night club down the road.

Warum ich bei Couchsurfing bin

I believe that if you listen to people closely, there is something amazing you can learn from every person you meet; but you need to be open to it to take it in.
I want to meet people that I can learn from through CS, from the way they live to the places they've been and the people they in turn have met. What better way to learn about the world than sharing stories, ideas and different points of view?

Interessen

Anything outdoors in nature - hiking, rock climbing, and trail running in particular.
Staying healthy - I like to do a lot of different exercise, from yoga to crossfit and everything in between. I'm also interested in what I eat so am a vegetarian, trying to eat whole foods and less sugar.
Being involved in my communities - I like to participate by volunteering, or helping to organise events etc. I find this is a great way to combine different interests, for instance I recently hiked with a group who have Usher's Syndrome (vision + hearing impairment), helping by keeping them on the trail and clearing it of big rocks - check out the group here - http://www.defyingadversity.com/

Musik, Filme und Bücher

Books are definitely my favourite:
Fiction - Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (and anything else by Douglas Adams), Harry Potter, Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Sherlock Holmes, Shantaram, Kite Runner, anything by John Green or Terry Pratchett.
Non-fiction: Flow, Quiet - the power of introverts, Flourish by Martin Seligman, Man's Search for Meaning - Victor Frankl, The Road Less Traveled - Scott Peck, Born to Run

Movies - Ones that make you think a little, like V for Vendetta, Interstellar and Inception.

Music - I've a pretty wide taste in music, you'll most often find me listening to anything chilled out, in particular indie, folk or soul. I don't like r'n'b, rap, most pop or heavy metal, but other than that anything catchy is good.

Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe

Just one? Ok, in 2012 I climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro with my sister. The last day was incredibly challenging and I learnt so much about myself and her strength on that trip.

Lehren, lernen, teilen

I love to learn! I'm willing to have a go at pretty much anything and really enjoy learning new skills.
I know bits and pieces things like: running (lots of different training tips!), bike maintenance, small amounts on nutrition and cooking (would love to learn more), juggling and rock climbing. I'm fascinated by human behviour and psychology and so have researched it quite a bit.
I'd like to learn more Spanish as I've dabbled but never committed to it.
