About Me

After an abrupt conclusion to my employment, I decided to embark upon a journey beginning 'somewhere in Asia' and heading in a 'generally westward' direction for an 'indefinite period of time'.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To meet interesting people from other cultures and engage in intriguing discussions about life, the universe and everything.

Couchsurfing provides an excellent opportunity to understand the local way of life. It is also a great way to explore a destination away from the standard tourist attractions.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music:
Some of my favourite classical composers include: Beethoven, Vivaldi, Liszt and Debussy.

I also don't mind a bit of reggae, or even popular music from the 70s/80s. Easy listening or something a little absurd (I won't say no to a bit of Bowie) is fine by me.

Books (I do love reading):
The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy (Douglas Adams), Alice's Adventure's in Wonderland (Lewis Carroll), The Da Vinci Code (Dan Brown), Horns (Joe Hill), The Kite Runner (Khaled Hosseini), One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest (Ken Kasey), To Kill a Mockingbird (Harper Lee), Cloud Atlas (David Mitchell), Fight Club (Chuck Palahniuk), The Secret History (Donna Tartt), A Fraction of the Whole (Steve Toltz), The Book Thief (Markus Zusak).... to name a few!

A comprehensive list of books I've read over the last few years can be found here: https://www.goodreads.com/review/list/32546295?shelf=read

Movies:
Inception, The Shawshank Redemption, Shutter Island, The Imitation Game.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Probably the thing people would consider most remarkable is the time I was lost for 13 days in the Bornean jungle with nothing but a small daypack.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm always keen for a wilderness adventure and would love to go hiking with locals. I'm particularly attracted to mountain ranges and enjoy spending long periods of time walking and camping in remote wilderness environments away from the hustle of modern society.

I'm intrigued by foreign cultures and love a good philosophical discussion. I am fascinated to hear about how people from a variety of backgrounds view the world.

What I Can Share with Hosts

My best experiences using couchsurfing have occurred through interesting conversations between two parties from contrasting backgrounds. Obviously I am willing to assist my host(s) with household chores, meal preparation, etc.

Countries I’ve Visited

Malaysia, New Zealand

Countries I’ve Lived In
