I’m Andrew and I’ve been traveling around most recently for the past five months in Russia, Armenia, Georgia and now the Balkans. I am finishing my third year as a university student at the University of South Carolina in the United States, but I have been on exchange in both Daugavpils, Latvia and Saint Petersburg, Russia where I have studied economics and Russian.

I have a wide range of interests, but I love any activities that are outdoors. This include hiking (a major component of my current travels) as well as water sports including freediving which is my favorite activity (think hold your breath and swim down). I also try to stay well informed with world events and am extremely interesting in learning about the lives and perspectives of those I meet. Last interesting fact is that I have an interesting diet that makes me essentially vegan when I travel.

I’m on Couchsurfing because I want to learn the perspectives of people around the world. Through traveling in hostels I have met a ton of great travelers, but I would love to meet more locals as well. Specific to the Balkans, there is a lot I would like to know more about the intricacies of the history and life in this region which is only possible through meeting new people.
