About Me

I’m about to lose myself in the music, the moment, I own it never ever let it go. Apart from rapping like Eminem, I have a background in finance with a professional job to boot! My job requires frequent travel so in between I am giving Couchsurfing a try. I’ll go ahead and let you in on a secret, I’m a wonderful guest. Truly. I’m thoughtful, positive, and although I’m hardwired as an introvert, I can usually muster the strength to party on occasion.

My travel style is nonchalant. And I consider myself well-traveled with a keen eye for tourist traps and gypsies. Whatever the situation may be, it helps to be mindful. Much of the dissatisfaction with life will disappear, and many simple joys will emerge, if I am present with things just the way they are. It’s comforting.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I joined to meet local people in the cities I travel to for work. Seeing the city through local eyes helps me gain a real perspective of how life is where you live.

Interests

Dogs. If you or any of your friends have dogs, they would be treated as my own. I enjoy cooking and eating all types of food, especially Asian and Latin. I take wine over beer unless I’m at a German or Irish pub. I like my coffee with 3 drops of liquid stevia and a splash of cream. And, I’m a La Croix addict. Pamplemousse me! (La Croix drinkers know what I mean) I prefer herbal supplements and natural healing techniques to prescriptions and doctors. There’s nothing wrong with a few Xanax bars or dabbing some addy though. I love discussing religion and I’m fascinated by other beliefs – my favorite being Judaism and Soufism. I was raised in a Christian household that made me question religion in its entirety at an early age.

On any given day you can bet I’ll be reviewing the markets. It’s exhilarating to watch the economy tick by and react to our perceptions of the future. I read the WSJ everyday and for leisure I listen to The Great Courses provided by Audible. Go ahead, judge.

At 14 I was standing in front of the Winged Victory of Samothrace sculpture in the Louvre and I couldn’t take my eyes away. The lines. The symmetrical lines following her shoulders to the tip of the wing were beautiful. That is the moment I understood how lines could create depth and perception. I dabble in painting and my medium of choice is oil paint on canvas. I don’t identify with a genre of paintings such as landscapes, beaches, etc. - I don’t paint for profit. My paintings have evolved with me and are representative of my deepest feelings and desires at that time.

Music, Movies, and Books

I was trained in classic piano at a young age. My teacher taught me to play, but more importantly I learned how to see music. Other music genres I like: Latin, 1990s rap and hip-hop, 80’s rock, and 70’s dance. My favorite artist is Lady Gaga. My favorite band is the Wu-Tang Clan.

My favorite movie categories are drama, action, thriller, and comedy. Add popcorn, chocolate, La Croix and we will have a great viewing.

Books are life. I’d love hearing some of your suggestions.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have swam in the Great Barrier Reef off the coast of Cairns, Australia. A sight not many people will see as the reefs continue to die from the ocean’s changing chemistry.

Teach, Learn, Share

I’m a beekeeper and I can teach you about the importance of honeybees and the instability of our agricultural system. I spent two years researching Colony Collapse Disorder or the “plight of honeybees.” Hopefully I can learn something interesting from your life!

What I Can Share with Hosts

A warm embrace, idea brainstorming, and deep conversations. I can help cook and watch your dog. If you don’t have a dog, then I don’t see this going anywhere. Jk. Sort of.

Countries I’ve Visited
