About Me

Hi, I'm Andrew and I was born and grew up in Melbourne, Australia, but currently I am studying in Milan for the semester.
I am a second year film student and would say that I am very passionate about film. If you are even remotely interested in film then I would love to have a discussion with you about it. I am also very interested in music and literature and would love to share recommendations and discussions on these topics!
I am very new to couchsurfing and I hope that you consider my application.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I really want to be able to experience and learn about other cultures and I think that it is much easier to do that if I spend time with locals rather than just being a tourist. I am always eager to listen and learn about anything - one of the main reasons why I am on couchsurfing is to learn languages and hopefully be able to speak them, as well as the experience of meeting cool and interesting people.

Music, Movies, and Books

I really do love all types of music, movies and books and am always open to recommendations.

Music: D'angelo, Radiohead, Nina Simone, OutKast, Kanye West, Tame Impala, MIA, Grizzly Bear, Frank Ocean, Al Green, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Sidney Bechet, Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong, Django Reinhardt, Jay-Z

Movies: In the Mood for Love, Raging Bull, Amarcord, Mad Max: Fury Road, Punch-Drunk Love, Yi Yi, Le Samouraï

Books: Revolutionary Road, American Pastoral, The Sound and the Fury, True History of the Kelly Gang, Norwegian Wood, The Idiot, Lolita, Disgrace

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Last year I lived in New York City for one year and this year I am doing one semester of study abroad in Milan.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: If English is not your first language then I would be more than happy to speak and practice it with you. I have also been playing the guitar for 8 years and can teach you something if you have one laying around.

Learn: I would most of all like to be able to practice the two languages that I am currently learning: Italian and French. I would really appreciate the opportunity to be able to speak it more often as I want to improve. I have also taken up a new interest in cooking and although I am not very good at cooking, I would really like to learn any recipes that you may know and would help out with the cooking if you need. I also would be interested in learning any other form or art or skill that you are good or passionate about (painting, music, writing).
