About Me

Hoping to complete a move from CO to the PNW and trying to find a place to be. Have been working mainly as an instructor, but also in the guide and service industry. Plus, I love to brew, drink, and talk about beer. A big fan of fermentation, I enjoy making kombucha, kraut, kimchi, and just like cooking in general. Who doesn't love tasty treats?? Currently staying in the Seattle area. Heading to AK later this summer for a sea-kayaking guide course. Enjoy being on the water.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To explore new places while staying on the cheap. Also I just enjoy meeting new people and sharing what I know. It's probably why I enjoy being an instructor. When I have my own spot, I am excited to share it as a free crashing option for people like myself.

Interests

Anything outdoors. Particularly, mountain biking, mountaineering, skiing, backpacking, kayak touring, rafting, disc golf, and foraging wild edibles - especially mush!

Music, Movies, and Books

Have an eclectic collection - I listen to all genres and go through phases. I tend to watch lots of cooking and travel related things, and watch 'fantastic' movies - would highly recommend The Revenant as it's one I just saw. When I read, it's usually to learn about something. I find myself more interested in biographies than George Martin, for example. A fantastic read no matter where you call home is Beyond the Hundredth Meridian by Wallace Stegner.

Teach, Learn, Share

I hope that I can affect you in a positive way. I learn something new every day. I'll also say that our most purposeful and worthwhile growth happens when we are operating outside of our comfort zone.

"You do your needed work out of love, the love that dares not speak its name, the love of spareness, beauty, open space, clear skies and flowing streams, grizzly bear and mountain lion, wolf pack and twelve-pack, of wilderness and wanderlust and primal human freedom and so forth." - Ed Abbey
