About Me

Currently embarking on a six month solo trip around South America for the second part of my gap year before starting my Masters in Holland. First half of the year was spent in Germany earning money to travel! Some would describe me as hyper-social, generally I prefer the company of others rather than being on my own, possibly stemming from the fact that I come from a relatively large family (oldest of 4 boys). Very much a sporty dude, have tried most things at some point, as of now field hockey is my main passion regarding sport, although I'll continue to dabble in whatever if I get the chance. Avid music fan, have a small record collection that I'm always looking to expand on! In general travelling is something I have not embarked on extensively and that is something I want to change, hence you are reading this bio :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I generally love the concept of Couchsurfing, it is a wonderful platform to meet new people, help others out and of course save a few bob along the way. I am a big fan of projects and initiatives that harness the power of a network and couchsurfing is no different. The power and scope of a network and collectiveness in general is encapsulated in the most positive way possible by couchsurfing and I want to become a cog in this beautiful chain.

Music, Movies, and Books

Over time my tastes have changed but like many people I am partial to many genres of music. Techno and dance music is probably where my true love really lives, the likes of Jeff Mills, Robert Hood and Lil Louis would be heroes of mine in that regard. Otherwise, old school hip-hop I love. Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul, Pharcyde and MF Doom are probably up there for me. My taste in more modern hip-hop would include the likes of Loyle Carner, Joey Badass and Chance the Rapper. Favourite band of all time is definitely the Arctic Monkeys, they stole my heart from a young age. Otherwise I also love Tame Impala, RHCP, Alt-J and Bombay Bicycle Club. In terms of books I'm trying to cover a mixture of the classics as well as informative texts. Top few I've read would be 'Thinking fast and slow' by Danny Kahnemahn, 'One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest' by Ken Kesey and 'Grapes of The Wrath' by John Steinbeck

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Walked part of El Camino de Santiago. It is a dream of mine to go back and complete the full thing

Teach, Learn, Share

Chess is a fantastic game that I think everybody should learn to play. I used to spend hours playing against my dad so I would love if there was someone I could have a good game against. Otherwise I can teach you! I also enjoy cooking and sharing meals with people, a definite bonus to having me stay with you.

What I Can Share with Hosts

An undying enthusiasm for life (always a good place to start). Generally always happy to just sit down, have a drink and get to know someone at least a little bit, especially if they are taking me into their home.

Countries I’ve Visited

Bolivia, Canada, Chile, Croatia, England, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Netherlands, Scotland, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, United States, Wales

Countries I’ve Lived In
