About Me

GOAL

One year into an 18 month long trip attempting to backpack around the world. In search of fun and satisfying a quarter life crisis brought on by working in an office for eighteen months.

WHY

Seemed like a good idea at the time.

HOW

A lot of time saving money, a lot of mediocre jobs in Australia, and the kindness of people like you.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Because sometimes sleeping in a tent is frustrating and I'm starting to feel too old for hostels. I'm pretty new to the Couch-surfing community, but so far I've really enjoyed meeting people all sorts of different walks of life, it's been quite the cool experience.

Interests

Music- Most of it, making it (not so great at that part) and listening to it (better at this). In general I like live music a lot more than DJs but I'm really not picky.
Coffee- All forms
Beer- Most forms
Travel - duh
Public Policy- I'm kind of a nerd here
Politics - we don't have to talk about it if you don't want to
Motorcycles- thank you South East Asia

Music, Movies, and Books

I like movies where things aren't ok and characters can't handle that, but then at the end they can, even though the things don't really change. So think Wes Anderson, or Wes Anderson like, or possibly Raising Arizona.

I like live music and people who enjoy dancing to it. I'm not a huge fan of hardstyle but anything laid back is pretty nice. Also the 90s.

I like books with campy approaches to otherwise kinda sad topics. So, Kurt Vonnegut, or Kurt Vonnegut like. Becoming more and more of Sci Fi fan as of late, lots of Phillip K Dick, H.P Lovecraft and George Orwell.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hovered through the eye of a barracuda school while diving off the coast of Malaysian Borneo.

Teach, Learn, Share

If you want to learn ukulele? Or learn and or talk about American politics?

I really want to learn piano, I've always thought it was an amazing instrument. I'm also hoping to travel South America, in which case knowing Spanish would be amazing. Also if you happen to know anything about advanced statistical analysis, I'd really like to know more.

I'd love to share any good stories we both have, any songs you want to play, and recipes an extremely untalented chef can cook, any cool plans you have for the future, any stimulating conversation about politics or life is always welcome too.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Fun stories, ukulele, more fun, I'll clean your house, beer, interesting conversation, your company, I can also cook you dinner but no promises it'll be worth eating.

Countries I’ve Visited

Australia, Cambodia, Canada, Laos, Malaysia, Mexico, Myanmar, Thailand, United States, Viet Nam

Countries I’ve Lived In

Australia, United States
