About Me

Grew up east of London and attended grammar school in Mile End. After school, moved to Hampshire / Berkshire (and a couple of years in a small village near Wolverhampton) before emigrating to California in 1998. In November 2013 I emigrated again, this time to Jamaica, where I recently got married and where I work for the British Government. I've worked for a number of large international corporations in management roles. I don't smoke or drink and have never used recreational drugs.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've heard lots of great stories about the experiences of Couchsurfers. Hoping to share some of these. As an expat in Kingston, I'm always happy to offer help.

Interests

Currently, I'm enjoying exploring Jamaica and learning everything I can. I'm an active LGBTI rights campaigner.

Music, Movies, and Books

I have very eclectic musical tastes. I will listen to classical and jazz by preference, but enjoy most other types. Currently learning about reggae and adding that to my 'list', although 'house' and now 'dancehall' are not there.

I get teased about enjoying 'chick flicks', but the last movie I saw at a cinema was 'Alexander and the ..... horrible day' (courtesy of my 10 year old step-daughter's birthday outing) and on TV, was 'Happy Feet'.

Most of my reading is non-fictional and career related - although I have just finished reading the 'Fifty Shades' trilogy.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Survived a 'Widow-maker' heart attack

What I Can Share with Hosts

We have just moved to an older house on the edge of town, near to the zoo. It's a quiet area where sometimes the sounds of lions roaring can be heard on the cool night breezes. Accommodation is in our spare bedroom. Availability may depend on whether my step-daughter is with us or her father.

My wife is Jamaican, and will be happy to share her culture with visitors - even if she does have to admit that she's explored more of Jamaica since 'importing' me.

We both work, but the house is close to a good bus route if you need public transport, and taxis are inexpensive here.
