About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To keep moving forward...

ABOUT ME

My passions lie within the side of life that is along the road less traveled. I love music of all types, people who do good in the world, wandering aimlessly around cities (with a partner in crime preferably), and overall connecting with people from all walks of life. I guess you could say I'm a modern day hippie who is eager to travel everywhere/anywhere and have authentic local experiences in the process. I am down to earth but can also have a great time out on the town and really appreciate conversations of substance about whatever the subject may be.

PHILOSOPHY

Plenty sit still, but hunger is a wanderer. -Zulu Proverb

Go and reconquer your kingdom, don't allow routine to corrupt it. - Paulo Coelho

Ukuhamba Kukufunda (To travel is to learn) - Xhosa Proverb

I INVENTED TO PIANO KEY NECK TIE, I INVENTED IT! - Mugatu (Zoolander)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I haven't had the opportunity to host anyone yet as I am pretty nomadic at the moment, so I am strictly a surfer. But once I settle down I will look forward to hosting in the future! I've also participated in some CS meet-ups and love meeting people everywhere I meet within the network.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My CS experience has been through my trek around Europe last year where I was able to have some really pleasant experiences across the continent and am still in touch with many of my hosts to this day.

I really enjoy sharing meals, drinks, and swapping stories of adventure through my experiences and LOVE meeting the CS network wherever I go as it's such an interesting collection of beautiful souls!

Interests

Urban culture, global music, scuba diving, the outdoors, backpacking, positive social change, musical activism, thrill seeking, cliff jumping, sustainability, surfing, traveling (of course), documentary film, art, photography.

Just about anything to be honest, I'm an open mind ready to absorb & participate in as my as possible during my short time on this beautiful blue-green sphere of ours.

Music, Movies, and Books

To name a few:

Books: The Tipping Point, Angels & Demons, Shadow Divers, The Art of War, The Five People You Meet in Heaven, Deception Point, The Alchemyst, Mark Twain, The Kite Runner - I'm really into philosophical writing, stuff to make me scratch my head and ponder my position in the world.

Movies: Reservoir Dogs, Death at a Funeral, Snatch, The Prestige, Nolan's Batman Franchise, Goodfellas, Democracy in Dakar, The Art of Flight, The African Cypher, Documentaries - I get really invested in movies, I like to be completely fooled by a plot line, laugh for ass off, or get a bit overwhelmed with emotion. If a film can do that, then it's a success in my book.

Music: Pretty LIghts, Gramatik, Nomadic Wax, Zero Plastica, The New Deal, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Incubus, Minus the Bear, As Tall as Lions, Big Gigantic, Goldfish, Mix n Blend, Brother Ali, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Nas, Native Sun, Nomadic Massive, anything that makes my head bounce, feet tap, and mouth smile

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

- Spending Xmas & New Years on the pristine beaches of Mozambique; pure paradise

-Watching a thunderstorm make its way towards us while staying on an island at the Okavungo Delta in Botswana...nature at its finest.

-Working / organizing a TED talk event at the United Nations in NYC

- nomading around Europe as a hip-hop journalist reporting on the underground scenes across the continent

- sleeping under the stars in a bedouin tent in Petra, Jordan

- the list goes on, and I hope it will keep growing for the remainder of my life

Teach, Learn, Share

EVERYONE has something to teach, learn, and share with everyone, figuring out exactly what that is, that's the goal.

In terms of myself- I could give you some basic lessons in the ranks of guitar, impart a few of my treasured budget cooking recipes (perfect for backpackers!), or just share the handful of stories I have from my past travels.

That last one is my favorite, I LOVE telling stories just as much as I love hearing ones from fellow travelers :)
