About Me
Hi, my name's Andrew. I'm a 22-year-old dude living in Melbourne, Australia and studying a science degree. I travel back and forth between Sydney a bit (where my girlfriend is currently working) but aside from that I haven't travelled much recently - something I'm really hoping to change!
My favourite sports are Aussie Rules and ice hockey (you have to specify the "ice" over here in Australia, unfortunately!), and I also play quidditch for my university team (my main position is chaser). My favourite teams are the Hawthorn Hawks (in the AFL), the Melbourne Mustangs (in the AIHL) and the Vancouver Canucks (in the NHL).
I like playing, writing and listening to music. I play the piano, guitar, bass, and drums, all at a skill level where I look good to people who don't play music and bad to people who do. I love writing music. I tend to write about 60% of a song and then get stuck, so I've only got a few complete songs to show for myself but I hope to eventually start recording music and releasing it. I've been in five bands in the past but at the moment I've stopped playing gigs to focus on studying. If you asked me what kind of music I listen to I would probably say "a little bit of everything" but that answer is a cop out so here are some important bits of information: my favourite Beatles album is Rubber Soul, my favourite composer is Ravel, the first rap song I liked was Return of the Crooklyn Dodgers, I can't dance but if I'm going to it will likely be to Foals' first album while I'm cooking up breakfast, aaaaand my favourite vocalists are Freddy Taylor (male) and Sarah Blasko (female, but I don't listen to much of her music).
My parents are flight attendants so I got to travel a little bit growing up. I've been overseas twice without my family - to New Zealand in 2014 and Finland in 2015.
I think of myself as open minded, down to earth and a little bit shy/awkward (something I hope to improve on by meeting lots of new people while travelling!). I like politics but I don't really follow any particular political party. I like video games but I don't really play them often enough to consider myself a gamer. Judging from my last two sentences I also like saying "don't really".
If there's anything else you want to know about me that isn't on this page just shoot me a message :)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I want to travel to new places and meet new people! And once I'm in a position to do so I'd love to host people travelling to Melbourne. I'm visiting Finland with my girlfriend in June/July and Couchsurfing sounded like a good way to do it.
