About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To share, and experience the world as much as I can.

ABOUT ME

I like to think of myself as kind, and sharing. I can be a little bit cautious at times but I try to put myself in situations that take me out of my comfort zones. I can be very jovial when in good company, but am known at getting a little 'hangry' (hungry + angry/grumpy) sometimes! However, most of the time I'm down for good conversation and a laugh.

PHILOSOPHY

We all are independent, thoughtful, sympathetic beings. It's important to remember that. The more of yourself you share, the more you are able to take away.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have a lot of friends I've met through other travellers, and I love being able to give them a homebase, and a house when they are in my city, Melbourne. It is such a lovely thing to be able to give someone their own space outside of what can be the claustraphobic hostel atmosphere (not that I don't love the odd hostel!). I also like the idea of a connected community, and that when you're alone somewhere new, you know that you can find people with similar philosophies just when you need them.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Through the actual website, I met up with a few fellow couchsurfers around Vietnam in Dec 2012. We explored together and ended up travelling up the country together. Out of the website, I do enjoy having the people and friends I've met from around the world coming to stay with me, and being able to show them my life in Melbourne.

Interests

I love reading, exploring, and trying new things. Love food, want to try as many dishes as I can as I travel around. I really enjoy getting to know people, and really enjoy sharing new experiences with them. I love people that want to take me out of my comfort zone. I would like to push myself out of my comfort zones more, but getting to meet people would be the highlight of any travel or new experience.

Music, Movies, and Books

I've just lost all of my music so I've been having a wonderful time rebuilding my library from friends. I really enjoy down tempo, acousticy stuff like Dan Mangan, or Angus and Julia Stone, old school synth like Joy Division and Pink Floyd, and I do indeed like a lot of new electro. I've been newly listening to Zaba, Glass Animals Album. Check them out!

I love movies. I really do. Some of my absolute favourites are Gettin' Square (Aus Crime), Tais Tois, Amelie, The Fifth Element and He Died with a Felafel in his Hand. I really dig, good gritty Australian Film.

Books, oh I thought I loved reading a range of things, until I recently discovered my housemates voracious appetite. He has me reading Perfume, Dharma Bums and Slaughterhouse 5 at the moment!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One of the best days of my life was in Venice. The streets were slick with rain, and the lights reflected of the cramped streets. It just happened that for the day I was there, Leonardo di Vinci's Vertruvian Man was out for display for the first time in 4 years. It was incredible. Only on an A4 piece of paper, you could see the indents that Leonardo's pen had made. I was awestruck.

A close second would have to be a day's skiing in the Austrian alps. Sunny day, thick snow, the wind in my hair with the city laid out in the valley underneath me. Need I say more?

Hitting up the road around Aus for a camping trip are also some of the best times I've had. The beautiful bush, and deserted country roads leave you thinking. Especially if you're surrounded by a bunch of beautiful burners!!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I want to share, I want to know about you. I love sitting down and listening to someone's life and where they came from. I want to listen.

I will also help clean and cook and be a lovely housemate while you have me rather than just being a guest.
