About Me

ABOUT ME

Hi! I'm from bonny Scotland and work at Edinburgh University in IT. My friends will tell you - if you bribe them - that I'm outgoing, very talkative, and open to new foods and cultures. Alongside my IT job, I do research on religion, amateur acting and sports, so my life is a strange and interesting mix of things. But still so much to learn!

I'm easy going - though sometimes too exuberant! :) - and have a clear sense of direction in life. It may sound cliche, but I really don't think true fulfillment is possible without engaging and sharing with others around us.

The most important thing about me is that I know how to make the best out of a bad day - an essential skill, given the Scottish weather!

Send me a message if you come to Edinburgh, and we can have coffee and see some of the city together.

PHILOSOPHY

Don't let your past hold you back
Don't lose the dream in which you believe
Cynicism blocks positive change

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

It's great - full of really nice people; some of the best conversations and experiences I've had have been with fellow-surfers!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I surfed with the Bedouin in the Jordanian desert in 2011 - amazing experience, and in Western Russia in summer 2012.

Interests

Outside of work you will find me doing acting and language courses. I also enjoy strolling around the city or in the great Scottish hills. When I have the chance, I travel, particularly to the Middle East and 'Eastern Europe' - I like their food and perspective on life.

But I don't always have to be doing something! I can spend an evening happily, idly watching films with a good Scottish craft beer or whisky. I get passionate about things like technology, religion, and whatever's happening in the world right now.

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: Bulgakov - Master and Margarita; Dickens - Great Expectations; Philip K Dick novels; F. Scott Fitzgerald - Short stories; Kapuscinski - Imperium

IT / Computer problems - I work in IT
Teach you Scottish folk songs and food recipes
Teach you big ideas in religion and philosophy (I studied this to PhD level)
