About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I'm a student at UC Santa Barbara and a staff member of the Excursion Club. My plan after college is to NOT get a career.

ABOUT ME

I love languages. Why? Because I love traveling and have found that if you make the effort to speak the local language, you are rewarded with a more authentic experience and receive a lot more respect anywhere you go in the world. Unfortunately, my language list is short, but I'm actively working on making it longer. I've spent a year in Spain improving my Spanish, I've studied Hebrew and plan to start studying Arabic next year.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I surfed several times around Europe while studying in Spain. Now I'm back in school at UCSB and would love to organize a trip into the Santa Ynez mountains or hang out on the beach in Isla Vista.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've Couchsurfed in Bucharest, Barcelona, Madrid, Tel Aviv, Belgium and Amsterdam. It's amazing how much better a trip can be when you have someone to steer you away from the crowded tourist centers and toward the awesome local areas, where the food is always better, the beer always cheaper and places always more interesting. Every city has a tourist area, and they are all very similar in the end. The best part about seeing new cities is finding and sampling the real, unique culture every city has to offer.

Interests

In my free time I like to play guitar, go on hikes, relax, cook food and hang out with down to earth people. I love to swim, slackline, rock climb and longboard, all while listening to good music. I love learning languages so I can do my part in breaking down language barriers instead of forcing that burden onto others, as well as learning about the history of a culture through the clues hidden in the oddities found in their language.

Do you have a favorite outdoor activity that you want to share with others? I love teaching friends and strangers how to slackline. If we meet up I can teach you how, and hopefully you'll have something to share with me too.
