About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To meet new and interesting people, music, culture, food, etc. in the pursuit of discovering where I want to end up eventually.

ABOUT ME

Outgoing, fun loving guy ready to enjoy whatever company, entertainment, diversion, or personal enrichment life decides to throw my way. I consider myself to be eloquent and well read and love intelligently challenging conversation about just about anything. I grew up overseas and have a very close-knit, eclectic family and greatly enjoy showing others hospitality and generosity. I love being thrown into new situations and adapting and relating to folks of all walks of life.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Attend CS potlucks, meetups and parties and often participate as a co-host with local friends for traveling surfers when I myself do not have the option to accommodate people. Have yet to host but would love to, schedule permitting.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Attended numerous functions and been co-host to surfers visiting the Jacksonville area before actually getting registered myself. I've met an entirely new network of friends locally through this website indirectly, so I figured I would further the process and pave the way for great future meetings! Had a far better time in New York City than I could have ever wished for as a result of CS, since I was able to meet people organically and interact with a great local community of both Manhattan regulars and international people passing through. Living in Columbus now, having just graduated from OSU.

Interests

I love making and listening to music, engaging in travel to interesting places, nightlife, good food and drink. I want to make more time to get into the arts and to read more. Huge sports fan and I am enjoying stand-up comedy recently. Film buff but I know I have many yet to see!

Music, Movies, and Books

My DVD collection includes some of my favorite films: Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Closer, Requiem for a Dream, Oldboy, The Big Lebowski, Crash, Pulp Fiction, The Shawshank Redemption, Se7en, Anchorman, American Psycho, Dumb and Dumber, Before The Devil Knows You're Dead, Memento, Layer Cake & many more.

Some books I've enjoyed: The Pillars of the Earth, Lord of the Rings, Catcher in the Rye. Everything I've read by Jeffrey Deaver, Tom Wolfe, Harlan Coben and Chuck Palahniuk I've really liked. I read sports non-fiction and get most of my news, journalistic research magazine reading material online. Also love poetry (Tennyson, Dunn, Keats, Byron, among others).

I play several instruments so I do appreciate most genres for listening but by far indie rock and alternative with an emphasis on post-hardcore and emo occupy the biggest chunk of my audio time. I've been rotating between Armor for Sleep, City and Colour, X Ambassadors, Third Eye Blind and Jimmy Eat World radio on Pandora for months now in the car! Other really important artists to me include: Explosions in the Sky, Thursday, Saosin, Name Taken, Oasis, Brand New, The Early November, American Football, Bush, Weezer, Incubus, Smashing Pumpkins, El Ten Eleven, Coheed and Cambria, Taking Back Sunday, Led Zeppelin, Foo Fighters, The Postal Service, Death Cab for Cutie, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Used, Silverstein, Metallica and Radiohead.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Passing through the Straits of Gibraltar, the Bosphorus & the Suez Canal on a Navy destroyer.
Seeing Brand New/Thrice, The Used & Jimmy Eat World all live at the House of Blues in Orlando (3 separate shows).
Participating in a two-way crowd wave (2004, BYU) and witnessing a dramatic comeback with a touchdown scored with 26 seconds left (2006, UCLA) at Notre Dame football games in the student section.
Chicago's lit skyline on a clear night from an airplane.
Riding Cedar Point's Millennium Force roller coaster at night during July 4th fireworks.
Watching the demolition of the Stardust in Las Vegas in person.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Choice of 4 surfaces to sleep on: you can take my bed if you prefer it (which I will outfit with clean linens/blankets before your arrival), an inflatable air mattress in my living room also with clean linens & blankets, a 3-seater couch and a surprisingly comfortable loveseat. I'd take one of the 3 you don't need :)

My place is small but perfectly guest-friendly. 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom, A/C, 1st floor balcony/patio we can. I have hosted 2 friends (not via CS) capably before, and 1 friend numerous times comfortably.

I have a car (2015 Honda Civic) with which I could pick you up and transport you where you need to go, schedule permitting. But if you have things to do and I can't help, Uber and the public bus system (COTA stop right in front of my apartment) make nearly everything affordably accessible. I'll certainly invite you out for food/drink with my friends, no matter what. I have a really good knowledge of the city and its surrounding areas, parks and attractions, having lived here for 2.5 years while studying at Ohio State. Basically, I'm down to do whatever interests you if I'm free and you want to hang out. What I always tell folks is that even though my apartment complex is on the banks of the lovely Scioto River and seems tucked away, I can have you touching a downtown skyscraper in 15 minutes!
