About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To be on a New Life adventure

ABOUT ME

Andrew is also a very empathetic and caring person having done Biodanza for many years and other personal development workshops. He likes other people and having fun.

Martina is empathetic and has been teaching mindfulness, positive psychology and other personal development workshops for several years now.

PHILOSOPHY

To be aware of myself and others around me. To live life to my highest potential whilst being healthy and happy. Human kind become much more considerate and understanding to each other when communications allows the sharing of philosophies and cultures.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

At the moment looking for people to stay with and meet as we are travelling in SE Asia.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

A novice hence plenty to learn.

Interests

Andrew - i want to complete my PADI Rescue Diver to a Divemaster - that's the big plan (this is so that we get to travel and stay in fantastic places in the world and get paid for it). I also like skiing (although this occurs only annually). My other enjoyments are cycling, swimming, volleyball, cooking interesting food (much more to be learned though). I have recently learned Improv, and taken it to the next level by facilitating a few classes. Improvisation is about being mindful and living in the present moment, and stopping the mind in its usual capacity of hanging out in the future or mulling over past events. Improv can improve the mind by allowing creativity to be part of the brain process and allowing different thoughts and solutions to occur in our lives. This happens by actively using our right side of the brain (our creative side) at the same time as using our intellectual side (left side). Thus if we can use the whole of our brains this can only improve ourselves. Also I want to learn some of the healing energies of the world i.e. Reiki.

Martina - she likes cooking, and relaxing and is into artistic items. Martina also loves flowers and especially orchids - hence loves the orchids in Thailand.

Music, Movies, and Books

Andrew - loves comedy as it helps me relax. The kind of books and movies i prefer are human interest ones where the relationships are developed and progressed. Music tastes are fairly eceletic and often depend on what i am feeling that day - so i love trance music, but i also love listening to a bit of world meditative music (think of Indian music or Reiki music).

Martina is fairly gentle and relaxing style of music - i.e. yoga and meditation style of music

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

1) Doing a tandem skydive over Wanaka in New Zealand, the view from 12000 feet coming down was awesome.
2) Doing a drift dive in Fiji, whilst all these reef sharks were getting very interested in the group and heading closer to us, by buzzing us. Whilst in Fiji i went on an amazing snorkelling trip that had some fantastic really bright corals and 35 metre visibility. I swam down (no fins) 35 foot to a natural arch and then came up, and felt my lungs were bursting.
3) Doing (back in 1996) the longest freefall (108 metres) bungy jump at the Pipeline in New Zealand. 4 seconds of freefall created an adreneline buzz that lasted 48 hours.
