Overview
About Me
Well I am Andrew and I'm now in a position to considering starting my travelling.
I live in a small village around 4 miles from the Scottish city of Dundee. I love the countryside, but I'd like to move out to study at university in a larger city in the next year or two.
I am a Buddhist and have been for around 3 years, although recently I have been able to explore my spirituality more. Don't let this put you off, I am very accepting and can see the value in different faiths and belief systems, although if interested I am happy to discuss and share my point of view.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm on Couchsurfing because I'm looking into doing some travelling, and as a student I have to do it on a budget, but also I see it as a way to connect with real people. And can there possibly be a better way to learn about culture than from the people themselves?
Interests
I am greatly interested in Politics and History, and have been for many years. I am a fan of Rugby and follow the Scottish Rugby team, despite how bad we are haha.
I also love to study languages and have studied French for 6 years and would like to continue until I am fluent. I also like to dabble in different recipes from around the world, although it doesn't always work out well haha.

Music, Movies, and Books
My favourite musicians are Imagine Dragons, the Arctic Monkeys and surprisingly Elvis Presley! Pop music doesn't really do it for me, unless I'm partying, in which case its great to dance to. Although I can listen to most music genres and enjoy them.
As for movies, well its hard to name a favourite but I would say Miyazaki's Spirited Away is definitely close to the top. I live films that have some kind of deeper meaning, but there is a time and place for action films, right?
Books, books books.... Well I love to read, although I find it hard to find to these days. I loved the Hunger Games Trilogy but also 1984. What I read has a huge variety. Although I prefer post-apocalyptic/dystopian novels.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Well in August 2014 I flew on my own to Chicago to meet a friend I had spoken to online for 3 years. This was my first time travelling alone, and although I was a little nervous it was absolutely one of the most amazing experiences of my life! I stayed in Wisconsin for 15 days where I got a real insight into American culture and strengthened a great friendship!
Teach, Learn, Share
Once someone said to me how annoying uneducated and stupid people were, and I stopped them and I said:
"I have never met anyone who could not teach me something."
And I completely believe this, and think anyone can use this!
What I Can Share with Hosts
Well I love deep conversations about the bigger issues in life!
But I can also share information about Scotland and the UK, especially if you are thinking of visiting!
Perhaps my Korean Gochujang Stew? (Its Hot!)
