Overview
About Me
I grew up in a small country town 4 hours east of Melbourne Victoria, literally the end of the train line.
I moved to Melbourne for study and work, then in the early to mid 1990's I spent 2.5 years travelling on two extended trips mainly Asia and overland through the Middle East. I came back to Australia for a break at the end of 1996 and one thing lead to another and 20 years later I was still there.
During this time I relocated to Brisbane and spent almost 20 years there with short trips to Asia and North America.
In 2017 I finally woke up a d decided that life was too short to be sitting behind a desk for 10.5 months of the year waiting to travel for 1.5 months, so I quit my job to get back on the road to pick up where I left off. I realised that you accumulate a lot of stuff in 20 years, I either sold, gave away or binned most of my possessions and put the rest into a few boxes(mainly photos)
In late 2017 I did a bit of travel in Europe and completed the Camino de Santiago which I absolutely loved. In 2018 I travelled overland (as much as possible) from the USA through Mexico, Cuba, Central America and I am now in South America.
I like travelling overland on local transport to really get a feel for a country and its people.
The more I travel the more I realise how little I know, the more places I travel to more places that I realise I have to travel to.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
To met people and make friends while I am on the road and to get a deeper understanding of the people and places I am visiting.
At some stage in the future when I settle down again (not sure when or where that will be) I would love to host couchsurfers so I can hear about where they are from and show them around my local area.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
So many places, things and people it's pretty hard to pick one, but if I have to its the Camino de Santiago, it was a very special experience for me, 31 days walking 800 kms across Spain. The things I saw, and so many great people I met some for a few minutes, some for a few hours, some for days, some for a few weeks and others will be life long friends.
I cannot recommend it enough, just do it don't over think it as it will all work out in the end.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you about "My Australia" the places I have been to, my take on our culture and we can have some fun as I help you translate from Australian English/slang into English for example if you go to a Pub (bar) and you see a sign that says "No Thongs" they mean no flip-flops they are not going to check your underwear!!!
What I Can Share with Hosts
I love hearing about others life experiences and sharing mine. I give you a bit of a insight into my life in Australia.
I am not a great cook, but I can cut onions and clean up after myself and others.
I have also been to night school where I obtained an A+ in putting the toilet seat down after I have been 😉.
