About Me

CURRENT MISSION:

Well I have this ambitious life goal of creating a new National/Provincial Park... so there is that! Though right now, it's all about making people smile.

I am a very outdoor oriented person, who does all the outdoorsy activities I can think of (or afford to do). This ranges from, climbing, slacklining, paddling, cycling, hiking and much more in between! I Have traveled and explored quite a bit of my own country, but have not yet gotten the opportunity to get out of North America.

Currently, I do a bit of wilderness guiding for students at the University of Ottawa. Many of these students are on international exchange; and it makes me so happy to show people all the amazing hidden gems and cultures of this country. Every new exchange student who I get to know becomes a new amazing friend and then eventually persuades me to visit their home country, where they will end up guiding for me. Needless to say, but my travel list is growing rapidly; so I figure couch surfing is one of my best options.

When meeting new people, I tend to ask a lot of questions an absorb as much information as I can when learning about a new topic or idea. I am always willing to share stories and thoughts with others. Also! If you are learning french, I am happy to help!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm pretty new at couch surfing, but I love to learn and share with new people! I'm the kind of person who will easily start a conversation with a stranger on a bus. This seems to me like one of the best ways to learn about a culture and have genuine experiences with great people.

Through the time that I have spent at the University of Ottawa, I have made many friends from around the world and have hosted them through various wilderness expeditions. Most of these people have offered me places to stay in their own countries, so why not visit them along with new people!

Also, I am a broke student who wants to travel on a simple budget.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Well, recently, thanks to a great friend, I was in Waskaganish (Northern Quebec), where I visited a Cree community for a while. It was amazing being in such an isolated area learning about this culture so dependant on the land. We slept in tipis, hunt camps and in the local school. There, we learnt so much of their history, culture and traditions. I was lucky enough to enjoy moose, beaver and goose meat! The snowmobiling was awesome too! Made some great friends up there!

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach:
I teach french!

Share:
Good campfire stories, my favourite bad jokes, a case of beer, and maybe some singing (that depends on how much beer we share).

Learn:
Anything.
Slowly learning German and Spanish

What I Can Share with Hosts

Currently Living in Sauble Beach for the summer! I have a canoe, slackline, a veggie garden and a fire pit that I would be happy to share! I don't really have room for people to stay over, but I would be happy to show you around and share a beer or two! I'm familiar with many of the hidden gems of the area, so I could point you to many neat spots on the peninsula. So whether it be cooking salmon over the fire or teaching someone to walk a tight-rope on the beach, I'd be happy to meet any keen travellers who are willing to try new things.
