About Me

ABOUT ME

I'm passionate about storytelling and fortunate to do it for a living. Adventure and experiencing the highs and lows of life with people around the world is something I thrive on. I live in Beirut with my wife, where we enjoy the beauty of Lebanon and it's people.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I travel quite a bit, and enjoy meeting people when traveling solo.

Interests

Filmmaking, writing, consuming and telling narrative non-fiction stories, backpacking, cooking, a great margarita, languages, and general adventure.

Music, Movies, and Books

I have a hard time with favorites, but here's an idea of my tastes: I read a lot of non-fiction. (I'm curious). My favorite author is Anthony Shadid. While a cinematographer by trade, I judge a movie by its script. Hopefully not being treasonous to film, I hold the opinion that radio is the purest storytelling medium. I fell into blues and jazz music as a young teenager, own every Radiohead album, and also listen to a good amount of folk.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Became a conscientious objector to war, during my third year as a cadet in military college. This was the most freeing decision of my life.

Teach, Learn, Share

Learning another language is the most rewarding undertaking I have done. I can dive into the minutia of classical versus dialectal Arabic, or the theory and practice of cinematography. And if you like other places, people, and cultures, I have a few stories from life around the globe.

Listening is a large part of what I do for a living, so I'm up to listen to and learn almost anything from you.

What I Can Share with Hosts

A local gift from where I am coming from, good conversation, culinary skills, and the absence of a mess in the wake of my departure.

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, Haiti, India, Jordan, Mexico, Morocco, Rwanda, Uganda, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom

Countries I’ve Lived In
