About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Remembering to live in the moment

ABOUT ME

I'm originally from the US. These days I bounce from place to place pretty frequently. In the past few years I've lived in the states, Sweden, and Finland. Now I'm trying to make Denmark my more permanent home.

I spend my days as a software developer, battling urges to leave my education behind and start a craft brewery/vegan cafe/organic farm/rock climbing guide service/whatever wacky idea seems appealing at the time :)

I live with my lovely girlfriend, Tibbe (http://www.couchsurfing.org/people/tibbe.larsen/).

PHILOSOPHY

Respect our planet and its inhabitants.

Embrace new ideas.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Why I host? Because I can! To lend a helping hand and spread the generosity and hospitality which I have experienced while surfing.

Why I surf: To save money, learn about the best spots from locals, and meet generous and open-minded people from other cultures.

Music - Akron/Family, Bon Iver, Tom Waits, Arms and Sleepers, The Velvet Underground, Do Make Say Think, Mount Eerie, Broken Social Scene, Radiohead, Jeff Buckley, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Sebastien Tellier, Sigur Ros, Neutral Milk Hotel, Arcade Fire, Vic Chesnutt

Films - Wristcutters: A Love Story, Looking for Eric, Everything is Illuminated, The Man from Earth

Series - The Wire, Boardwalk Empire

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The most memorable trip of my life was Thailand in January 2011. Climbing multi-pitch routes and being surrounded by monkeys in the jungle of Ton Sai and motorcycling through the mountains in Chiang Mai with my lovely girlfriend on the back.

Teach, Learn, Share

I've got plenty to teach.

I am really passionate about vegan cooking, and I'd be glad to share my favorite recipes with interested gastronomers. I also make my own hot sauce, which I love to share with other chili heads.

I am also an experienced homebrewer. I've made about 20 batches of beer, plus some cider and ginger ale. There's no doubt about it - I'm a beer nerd. Anything from beer history to styles to the process of brewing, I am more than happy to discuss it!

I find that a lot of people are interested to hear an ex-pat's perspective on the US. I have a complicated love/hate relationship with my home country, the details of which I'm always happy to share. I've also traveled across the country, so I have lots of tips for anyone who is looking to travel in the states.

I have an extensive music collection which is always growing. I love exchanging recommendations with other music lovers.

As for learning, I am open to anything and everything. If you're passionate about it, I'd love to hear about it.
